  • CCJ I knew nothing about

I have recently found out I have a County Court Judgement after looking at my credit rating for the first time in 6+ months. This CCJ was issued in June 2018 and I have no details of who or why I have this.

I obviously feel this is unfair, I have not received anything in the post and have moved home twice in the last year so suspect any letters have been sent to my old address.

Do I have a any case to get this set aside?

Any advice on the best course of action to would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Did you update your details when you moved home such as DVLA, details on your credit files, electoral role?

Also, can you see from your credit file if there were any searches carried out in the last year or so as that might point to who the creditor might be. Did you have any debts or disputes that someone might have been chasing you for that you've ignored?

If you can show that you didn't receive the claim form and/or you have realistic prospect of defending the claim, you could have grounds for setting aside the CCJ.

Have a read of the link below for a detailed discussion on setting aside the CCJ - the key here is promptness.

      Hi Rob

      Thanks for replying,

I updated the address details for the DVLA, bank, car log, electoral role etc. I didn’t update my address on my credit file, I wasn’t aware this was something that would be required, I guess I assumed this would be updated automatically with updating the above. I didn’t even think about updating this as I hardly ever look at my credit file.

I can’t see any searches on my credit file that I wouldn’t expect to see there. They are all for credit card and insurance applications. I did have a couple of parking tickets in December 2017, but paid all of these.

Is there a way I can search for who the creditor is and further details about the CCJ?

Thanks for the link, I will have a read.
