Hiya, today I was in Superdrug and I picked up a highlighter and put it in my pocket I had left the store yet and the girl who worked there came up to me and asked for the highlighter back which I gave it back she didn’t ask for any details such as name address phone number nothing. I just walked out. Will the police be informed or will it just be left? I technically didn’t ‘steal’ because I hadn’t left the store thanks*

If they didn't take any details and it was just a member of staff who stopped you and you gave the highlighter back to then nothing further should happen. You should probably consider yourself lucky that it was just a staff member who noticed and stopped you taking the highlighter from the store.* If you tried it again and they recognised you the staff are more likely to give the store security a shout, or contact the police.#staysafestayhome

No need to avoid the store, just keep items in a basket or in full view while shopping xxx#staysafestayhome

I get if you walk out the shop without paying for it but accusing someone of stealing before they’ve even left the shop is abit I called for. I had 3 people I saw watching me from
the other isles too. And other customers in the shop shopping, I just have back the highlighter and left, I was just concerned by CCTV if they’d call the police and they come to my house ect by face recondition I’ve never been in trouble with the police*
