  • Insuurance Replacement Faulty

Can any one tell me where I stand on this issue.
Almost two years ago my house insurance replaced a Samsung Tablet that I had dropped and broken.
They replaced it with a new Tab 3.
No voucher's or choice the policy was that you got an equivalent model.
Just before Christmas I did take it to be looked at by a local repair shop as it was taking ages to charge up again.
He diagnosed that the charging port was faulty and replaced it. (cost £25.00)
Worked fine until last week when again it started to take ages to charge.
Yesterday I had left it on all day and on check the graphic for battery appeared, briefly, with a yellow warning triangle beside it.
Will not switch on, even with the charger fitted and appears to be "dead"
What , if anything , are my rights?
    Cheers DT

Known problem with TAB 3. Make sure it is fully charged then press and hold the volume button and then press and hold the on.off button. Should come up.

OK, I will try that but I cannot even check if it is charged up.

@ostell I tried that would not respond.
Tried again plugged in same result apart from the brief battery empty graphic but would not swich on or respond to pressing volume/ on button.
Will try and get hold of Samsung themselves but only have an invoice from Insurance .
According to that it was two years at the beginning of January.
When you say thats its a " known" problem why didn't Samsung do a recall?

Are you using the right charger - the original that came with the Tab 3? Just checking becuase we had similar with son's hudl and turned out he'd plugged the usb bit into a different plug which had a different voltage ( or whatever you call it) on.

You will need to go through your household insurer, you can get a replacement but if this is a known issue as such it would be reasonable to request an another brand of the equivalent type i.e specifications or even the next model up if none available.

How long have you had it? your rights would still come under the Consumer Rights Act if after 1 October 2015, although because no voucher was given you cannot really get your money back but certainly a replacement and maybe push for either the next model up or another brand with same specs.

I was but it now has another changing port ( see original post) Used original plug with new USB but still nothing.
And the original plug was one that has a fold down top pin which does not seem to click in properly.
Just tried with another plug, (checked and the voltage was the same) and its own usb, again briefly got the battery graphic but then blank screen tried the pressing of the volume and power. Its as dead as a Dodo!

This was a replacement for one that I actually broke the screen.
Two years as of the start of this year
They say no as it would be seen as "wear and tear".
Advised to contact Samsung and underwriters that dealt with the claim.

                  Quick update.
Telephoned Samsung on Monday and they are willing to look at the device and they said it SHOULD still be covered by the two year guarantee
Then phoned the Underwriters that dealt with it and they have now e mailed me a copy of this, it was at the end on the December and I did not get it until the New Year so hopefully within this.
Packing and box arrived yesterday so will post this off today.
                  Will keep you all posted!

I've seen this a few times (get panic phone calls from, people) and it's always come up. You need to keep it on charge for a sufficient time to ensure fully charged. You may need to hold the buttons pressed for up to 60 seconds. Try with volume up and if that doesn't work then with volume down. Do this with any SD card removed.

Another suggestion it hold the volume down button for > 10 seconds to force the charger to work.

The problem occurs when the battery charge drops to 0

Lots of info on the internet.

                      Did all of that!
Left on charge all night. Would not show progress or turn on, even with charger connected via mains. Before this always charged when it
"told" me too never dropped to zero.
On its way to Samsung now!

Just arrived back. New battery, and USB lead not sure what components as it does not say. Also says they installed "latest" software, put it on charge and we shall see!
