  • DVLA v Amethyst

I forgot to SORN my car, what with leaving my home etc, and my car on the drive (knackered btw hence it being SORNed) so ended up with a £80 fine from the DVLA.

Have kind of ignored it till now.

Received letter threatening court action etc from their solicitors (PM Moody)

so have written this with my FS which I'll attach on next post.

    Your Ref: DAA/xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Dear Mr Moody

Further to your recent letter, dated 31 March 2008, regarding an outstanding amount due to the DVLA please be advised I am unable to make payment in full at this time.

I would however be willing to offer to make payments by weekly instalment of £4 until this account is cleared.

Please find attached a copy of my financial statement which outlines my income and essential expenditure. I believe any court action would result in monthly instalments being order at this rate.

Please confirm you acceptance of this offer, and send details of how payment may be made in cash via the Post Office.

    your sincerely

                  ahhh update on this.

DVLA were using about 3 different collection agencies working on commission to collect this money. Never heard from moodys got loads of crap from another company Intercredit.

Anyway just called the DVLA direct and paid them the original fine get it out my hair and poo to the annoying DCAs. I was daft to reply to Moodys really but we all make mistakes.

I would have challenged them in court.
