Hi I made a purchase of three notebooks and a pack of gel pens from The Works on the 14th January. When I received the order I found that instead of the gel pens they had sent three heart slates in error. I contacted them about this they said I had ordered the slates. I checked my order online and found exactly as I had ordered three notebooks and a pack of nine gel pens. I contacted The Works again and told them to look at the confirmation email they sent at the time of ordering this seems to have fallen on deaf ears! I emailed them yesterday and stated that if they dont sort this out I will take the matter further. About three weeks ago they said they would look into the matter. I am prepared to give The Works until the end of this week and then go to Trading Standards. I even asked them to arrange for collection of the slates and to send me the pens I have paid for. If I had ordered the slates my bill would have been £4 more. I feel I am being more than fair. Any advice would be appreciated. Rosie500

Re: Being called a liar by The Works!
Hi Rosie
I'd suggest that you write a formal complaint to the CEO (Mr Kevin Keaney) - include screenshots or printouts of your order confirmation and ask HIM to personally deal with it :tinysmile_twink_t2:
You'll probably get passed back to the complaints dept. but if you get the CEO involved it will be dealt with much quicker.

Re: Being called a liar by The Works!
Hi I wonder if I could go to the local library and do a print out of my order there if they would let me. I don't unfortunately have the use of my desktop computer at the moment I only have my iPad. Do you think it is worth me asking them. Rosie500

Good news, I would still write a complaint to their CEO about the way they handled this with you. Customer service in this country needs a big fat kick up the bum.#staysafestayhome

Hi surprise surprise I received a set of nine gel pens from The Works this morning. They have put an invoice in for the gel pens, I don't know whether this is in response to the letter of complaint I wrote. I have checked my bank account but nothing has been taken out. Now I am inundated with gel pens now as I bought some from WH Smiths very efficient compared to The Works, I had the order in a couple of days. Rosie

Re: Being called a liar by The Works!
Yes I think I will send them back and tell them in so many words that they can stick their gel pens up their jumper as far as they will go! They have a brass neck as we say in Scotland ( meaning they have a nerve)! I will send them back next week. I have sent them an email today telling them I am absolutely disgusted! and that if they think I am paying for the pens after the cock up then they have another think coming. Will keep you posted Rosie

:tinysmile_hmm_t2: Hi they have refunded the money ages ago. I wrote a complaint letter stating that I thought their customer service was shambolic! I have not even had the courtesy of a reply to that letter! I will contact them and ask for the wherewithal to return them. At first when I saw the pens I thought maybe it was a peace offering, no it wasn't they had even put an invoice in with them, why should I have to pay for their incompetence! They can stick the pens up their jumper as far as they will go! The further the better! I doubt very much I will shop with these muppets online again. I'm better to go to the store wherei live at least I will come out with what I want! Will keep you posted. Rosie

Re: Being called a liar by The Works!
You don't have to do anything with the pens, or even to contact them for a return envelope.
They are unsolicited goods, and it is (or used to be) an offence to send goods in this way with a demand for payment, (invoice)
If they want them back you can tell them where they are for collection and they have a limited time in which to collect before you dispose of them.
You are under no obligation to return them even if they send prepaid envelope. You do not have to carry them to the PO
