  • Easyjet Booking system took my money before I finalised booking

Posted on behalf of new user.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have had a day in court as the claimant and lost because the district judge did not acknowledge the irregular laws some of which I provided in the supporting documents of my witness statement.

Basically I abandoned an on-line-process believing that as I had not completed all the requested information on line and did not press submit I would be fine. I did not receive any confirmation, no boarding passes, no tickets, no tickets, no cancellation procedure, in fact nothing to alert me to the fact a transaction had taken place. I saw nothing. In the court room no evidence of anything was provided.

For the sum of £826-36 you'd think I would receive a receipt by email of my purchase.Nothing!

The first communication I get is a credit card demand for the full amount, 9 days after the plane had left.

Who knows if East Jet didn't sell those 5 seats even. I have no proof that they had those five seats available even though I had no inkling they were for me and my family. There is room for corrupt practice here.

It is accepted from a solicitor friend though I was representing myself in court that it isn't fair, there is no justice but I have had my day in court and naught I can do unless I appeal. i would have to purchase the transcript from the smalls claim procedure. I would have to fit the court fees. There is no legal aid for this process. I would be liable for the defendants court costs if I lose and lets face it the establishment won't take kindly to me disputing a judges decision. The expenses of this would be more than the small claims procedure because it would go to the circuit court level. A barristers fees alone would be £3000 for the day alone.

The judge said for an appeal to be considered the case would have to be law based and not on the facts already dealt with during the small claims process. I provided law basis to support the facts of the case that day. The judge did not acknowledge the irregular laws eg. the enterprise act and the unfair relationships act among others which I provided. I had given a law base to the case on that day. Now he says an appeal has to be law based? What the .....!

I am a lone parent . The credit card demand for the tickets is now £1,300, and the penalty fees and interest is mounting. Cant Pay Wont Pay! Feel sick to my stomach. I had a brain hemorrhage 3 months after this came to light. My cognitive skills are in tact. My life was saved but two and a half years later now I am at desperation door. The demands keep coming. i feel as though I have been mugged and no one listens. Easy jet have a terrible reputation. I even provided media coverage of the consumers who have had the same happen to them and variations of the theme. There was a Chanel 4 program entirely dedicated to them for their unscrupulousness.

I would love it if they were caught out for something in addition to this, to have sold those tickets again. Who knows>. They would if they could! Then they would be in the ....Big Big news. This kind of thing, no documents to show for the tickets, no evidence or hard copies of anything provided was provided yet they won?????HOW! I had no confirmation of anything. I had no knowledge of having been charged. HELP ME PLEASE I can provide you with all the information to date.My case witness statement and that of the defendant. I cant get the transcript because I don't have hundreds of pounds to spare.I have 28 days to log an appeal. I am powerless on my own. Watch dog or someone like yourselves? I am not the only one but one of many. This is of consumer interest. For sure!

It would be useful if you could post up your particulars of claim used (depersonalised) - I presume you were suing easyjet for a refund of the payment they took from you. Had you tried a section 75 request with your credit card provider prior to taking the court action ?

You have tried claiming the money back via the card you used? Though I don't think you are right as with easyjets booking / payment system its the last thing do.

Silly question maybe, but did you phone Easyjet as soon as you saw the money had been taken from your account and what did they say?

You gave your credit card details so presumably you had fully intended travelling with Easy Jet otherwise it does not make sense to give them your credit card details, so at what point did you decide not to travel on that particular day? When you did not get a confirmation did you not contact Easyjet to find out why? I certainly would not give my card details if I was not intending to take the seats to fly.

I fully agree, I booked flights with Easyjet a couple of days ago and the last thing you do is enter your card details, you go through the whole process of clicking here and there to select and de-select all the options offered for checked baggage, seat selection, priority boarding, travel insurance, missed flight cover, etc. Then you are taken to the screen where you provide your card details. It doesn't happen right after you select your flights. I honestly can't see how you could get to the payment details screen without jumping through a lot of hoops. One thing that happens there is, if you are a known Easyjet client and have set up an account, you have the option to log in and it will remember your details, however, you still have to remember your P/W, etc. to get through.

Furthermore, the sessions on the Easyjet site are quite short-lived, presumably so you are not holding tickets someone else could buy, for more than a few minutes. I was at the very end of the lengthy process when I had to do something else and left my screen as it was, right before entering the payment details. When I came back to the computer, it had gone back to the 'search flights' homepage, and I had to do the whole thing again. I just can't see how it could have happened...
