Hi, friend at work was telling me her husband parked at Crown Wharf Shopping Centre on 22/7/12, arrived at 13.42 and left 14.12 after popping into one of the shops there. Last week he got a Parking Charge Notice to Owner from ParkingEye of £80 (£50 if paid by 8/8/12), will increase further to £110 thereafter. He didn't buy a ticket as he thought it was free for shoppers at stores (it would only have been £1 for an hour) and he tends to go round with his head in the clouds lol!

I've advised her to ignore the charge and that its most unlikely anything will come of it, apart from a string of threatograms for awhile. In any case it could have been her driving not her husband as far as ParkingEye are concerned as you can't see the driver on photo. Just wondered how they know he didn't have a ticket? She just needs reassuring she won't be taken to court if she does't pay.

    Many thanks

    Re: ParkingEye

Funny you should post about a Private Parking Firm as I've recently engaged on a similar experience with another of their number.
    Threads here: http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ly-on-a-Sunday

All in all their demands are legally baseless and they are seriously trying it on.
As ever the advice is to file all correspondence under I and get on with your life..

Thanks CB, I just needed abit of moral support and reassurance on this, as I get family and friends asking for advice now they know I've had success on various issues with the help of LB. I'm spreading the word of fighting for your rights lol!

Best of luck with your battle x

Parking Eye know better than to chance their luck with following through any threats of court action after being left around £5,000 out of pocket when they took a motorist to court and had a sizeable chunk of their claim struck-out by the judge hearing the case. Other PPCs who have come off worst include OPC, which, along with its directors, was fined £30,000 by a magistrates court, and Vehicle Control Systems, which had its claim struck-out and a costs order made against it.

                  Yeah, not so much.

You have paid the required fee, so PE are really trying to pull a fast one.

Two-word answer to Parking Eye's letter and the second word is "Off".

                        THEY ARE JOKING?
I would write back and say i have a ticket that shows i paid to park at the time this stupid penalty crap was for and ask that they took me to court and skip sending all the stupid letters this is akin to being fined for doing speeding when the car is stationery

That's okay if they get the message first time. :tinysmile_grin_t:
