    Re: Credit Expert

    Peter,

Have you actually used the ability to stop RPA's? If so, I'll inform someone who is caught up in Payday loan cycle - wanted to know for sure it worked first.

      Re: Credit Expert

Peter the links you gave me were to do with bank accounts and could not see how that reflects into this scenario.

This matter is against Credit Expert who are sending out blanket emails to ALL advising you that you have an improved credit rating especially with your name on it to get you to pay the fee or to buy the services from Nationwide which they are advertising. When you then pay and see your credit rating is the same as it was with NO changes my husband cancelled his membership.

So what did they do they immediately sent another email telling him there has been some irregular activity your account and when he then followed the link to see what happened on his account it took you to sign up for membership. He went no further as it is just a ruse to get you to pay.

It is a reallty bad advertising campaign on their part and since they are a credit reference agency by them selling Nationwide products is a conflict of interest IMHO.

This Peter is not on in my books and my husband is extremely angry.

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect the links take you to legislation regarding the ability to cancel Recurring Payment Authorities.

This means you can sign up, get your credit report for nothing, then instruct your bank not to pay, they'll then cancel your account.

Instead of them screwing you, its been reversed then.

(Haven't looked at the links - guessing from what has gone before!)

He has cancelled his membership and the DD's so that is not the problem here. It is the otrusive advertising telling him porkies which is the problem.

So we're back to the ASA and the fact they should bring the full force of CPUTR against them, but they won't, they'll possibly slap their wrists.

I know it's wrong and frustrating, but it's what happens.

Tell me about it, i have longstanding complaints re various advertising techniques, Pay day loans advertising on self help forums where the people being targeted re known to have defaulted earlier loans for instance, irresponsible advertising for log book loans wher no APR is mentioned. I have found the ASA all but useless.

In this case a simple recorded letter to the CRA saying that you wish to be taken off their mailing /contact list should do the trick.

Peter I take your point on this and will also write to our MP and get him to work for his money.

We should take this forward as a campaign to get this sort of otrussive advertising sorted once and for all.

Anyone up for it on all these type of complaints????

Already doing it, so I am! I'll even arrange a refresher session on sanctions available to them.

Compliant i made, bit of a dead end I am affraid, also one on my (peterbards) pay day loan thread also to the OFT about PDLs advertising on forums.

                        http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ad.php?t=32088

I did hear that the OFT had taken up the complaint and were investigating the later but they never report back to the complainant directly.
