      Hi, I have a problem .* *
Last week I got caught stealing some perfumes at Debhenam... this is all out of character for me I never meant to do it and it's the first time I've ever done this in my life and I feel so ashamed..*
I was seen by a member of the staff and I gave the stuff back in re-selable form.. but he took me to the police who happen to be there.. I was taken to the back room where I confessed straightaway... cried and said sorry to them told them I'm on pregabalin tablets for anxiety and depression .. I was given a caution by the police ... And was told I would be getting a letter from RLP ... which is one of the condition on the caution (that I have to pay it)*
I* got the letter on friday asking for £215*
Which is way more than I thought it would be, as I want to pay the fine for my stupid mistake*
But its alot more than I can afford to pay.

Please guide me how I can negotiate a price with the RLP
      Thank you for your time*

You should ignore RLP. They have no power to fine you just invoice you for the cost of your 'crime' ... which has been evidenced to be negligible because the security staff would be there whether or not you chose to take the perfumes - the perfumes were recovered in saleable condition etc.

What did the police actually say ? Did they give you any documents ? I very much doubt that the police said you have to pay RLP as a condition of you accepting a caution, hopefully you misunderstood.

Need to see the wording of that caution.
Some are conditional on making reparation to the victim, but I have never heard of one conditional on paying a civil recovery firm.

Also have a great deal of concern over the circumstances*
Code of practice is here and I wonder if it was fully followed (https://assets.publishing.service.go...0108512162.pdf)

As the store lost nothing why should you pay an extortionate £215? section 2.21
Conditions attached to a conditional caution must always be:  Appropriate;  Proportionate; and  Achievable.
This alone would IMO give you reason to consider sections:
            Withdrawal from conditions 3.19 & 20*
            Variation of conditions 3.23
            *

Community Resolution Orders are a lot less than a caution.
Please post up the conditions and will look at them later.

The procedure has been explained to me by the officer. I understand that once the community Resolution has been satisfactory completed, the police will not take any additional formal action.

I have admitted the offence described above and the following has been explained to me:
                      *This is an informal agreement.
*If I complete the action below I will not receive a criminal record,or be required to attend the court.
*If I fail to complete the actions,I may be prosecuted for this offence.
*Information will be recorded on the police system.
*Employment requiring an enhanced disclosure and barring service certificate may result in disclosing of this disposal.
By accepting this Community Resolution, I agree to:
                      1. Banned from Debhenams & Broadwsy 24 months.
                      2. Not to commit any further theft in the future.
                      3. Debhenam civil recovery.

(AND I SIGNED THE PAPERS AND WAS GIVEN TGE YELLOW COPY)

No DNA or fingerprints were taken they only asked me for my Name,DOB,ADDRESS and my bank card which was shown to prove my details... I did mention to the police that I'm on medication for anxiety & depression and he told me to seek help from my dr. As I said before I dont mind paying along as they reduce the amount so would it be better if I wrote RLP a letter letting them know of my condition and the medication I'm on,as it says on the RLP letter that they would consider all this as long as I get a written letter from my dr....would it be worth giving them a call or emailing them? Do they actually reason with people or am I being naive?
