PayPal Business Merchant Account. PayPal Chasing Individual

Hi all,

I am new here. Please be kind.

What happened: We have a business PayPal account not individual personal account (it shows on merchant information a private ltd company and has been set up like that since the start)

Our PayPal is of course in negative balance due to fraud chargeback. We intend on closing company down soon due to it not being profitable.

However they have sent me a letter to my home adddess without the company name saying I owe the money personally from a debt collection company called Wescot. I have never given PayPal a personal gurantee so I'm very confused.

However the PayPal account shows a private ltd company on information on PayPal never is my personal information mentioned I'm the Director only with 10% shareholding, So is this PayPal bully tactics?

What would you do in my position? Wescot have put account on hold whilst they communicate with PayPal that it is a business account not individual.

Your help is really appreciated.

If your company is a Limited company registered with companies house, which given there's shares it would sound like it is then they can not pursue you individually if you have not given a personal guarentee.

Their terms describe a business account in the definitions here:https://www.paypal.com/ie/webapps/mp...ale.x=en_IE#01

“Business Account” means an Account used primarily for business purposes and not for personal, family, or household purposes.

Their own definition makes it clear they distinguish between individual and business.
