Re: child benefit overpaid
Hi josh1234 ... I'm unsure if they can do an AoE on your partner's wage (although I doubt it), but maybe Debt Camel or Amethyst will be able to answer that
If you have problems paying back the whole overpayment in one go, you'll have to contact HMRC to get a payment plan - https://www.gov.uk/repay-child-benefit-overpaymentsPay back overpayments
The Child Benefit Office will write to tell you how to pay back the overpayment. The payslip you get with the letter has the bank account details.
You’ll usually have to pay it back in a lump sum.
Contact HMRC about repayments or if you need time to pay.
Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...

Re: child benefit overpaid
thanks for the input guys.basicly we were getting child tax credits for our daughter and child benefit as she went into higher education but when her course finished the tax credits ended automaticly but the child benefit was still being paid so we thought it was maybe some kind of back payments.
