just a quick question going on from this thread

once the employment office has decided your claim for say job seekers has been agreed (live)

how long does it take to start receiveing housing benefit and council tax benefit direct from the council

after all, the rent still has to be paid

just curious knowning how slow local authorities are

          Re: Housing benefit reduced dramatically

I had to telephone my local council to speed up the process of housing benefit. My house (my ex husbands) was repossessed in Feb 2009. A friend lent me money for a deposit to rent privately. Although I had three young children, (one in primary and two secondary) I was not allocated council accommodation. (It was a bidding system) I wasn't getting anywhere so I decided to rent privately.
My salary was not enough to cover the rent. When I telephoned in my most stressed out state, I received a payment one week later. I think I was hysterical!

Glad to hear that there is a little chink of sun in your life now, however this is quite unacceptable that one has to "lose it" for things to move forward.

              Hi
my daughter is applying for uni at present apart from the student loan she is able to apply for a bursary of which is just over £3000 for the year. She states this is because my annual income is under £25000.

              Good luck

I think this might have been missed off the application, so thanks for reminding me! The reason being, it got a little bit confusing as both girls (my two eldest) were applying at the same time.
In the past, they always ask for P60 and tax credits confirmation letter. They did not ask for it this time.
