Re: Tax Credit Overpayments Help & Advice Links

OH and I were both unemployed 2008-09. Both back in work 2009-10. 2010-to present just me working (OH out of work since March) and me on 20% less income than 2009-10.

£6,500 tax credits bill for 2009-10 just before Christmas. Absolutely no way of paying that back as a lump sum. I see from the Tax Creds website that they give upto 3 years to repay. Still impossible for us.

    Can anyone beat £6,500?

That is a lot TDS !!!

Think mine was not far off £3Grand, but that was some years back, where I did not know anything about challening these matters then.

        Hi.

I don't think we can challenge this. Yes, it causes hardship and yes there are extenuating financial circumstances, but I earned X in 2009-10 and was paid £6500 WTC for that year and appear to owe them what they're asking for. Its just happens that that tax year was a blip in the fortunes of family debt star and we are in even deeper mire now. It would have been better to have earned less and not worked so hard. The system takes away the will to improve our lot. Why fooking bother.
