  • Moving on to Universal Credit with £200,000 in personal injury trust

    Hi

I look after someone who was awarded £200,000 for personal injury and this was put into a personal injury trust and the DWP were written to about it by the solicitor.
    The DWP never responded.
They have now been contacted by the DWP saying they must move over to Universal Credit (from the legacy benefits, EESA).
Will they receive any benefits at all under Universal Credit if they have £200,000 in a personal injury trust?
    thanks

Regulation 75(4) of the 2013 Universal Credit regulations applies
Income from a PI trust will be ignored, as will that capital sum
