  • PPI Claim Agent Charging More Than Agreed

    Hi,

A PPI agent that i had dealings with 10 years ago on other matters sent me a letter to say they could look in to all my PPI and see if there was any claims available to get.

The letter said they would charge 25% for each case that paid out. Since I could not remember who I had dealings with over the last 20 to 25 years, I would give it a go. I signed the forms and sent them back.

So far there has been 2 cases settled. One of them has paid out already and the other is still to sent the money.

I received a demand from my PPI agent for 25% + vat. There was no mention of any percentage fee plus vat.

My question is can I go to my PPI agent and say I will pay them 25% only as agreed or am I royally screwed?

I personally think that being an individual, the company should have stated that it should have been 25% plus vat in the initial contact. And just cause they are a business that VAT automatically follows. I have never signed any paperwork stating that there was a 25% fee due plus vat.

I have no issue paying the 25% as agreed, just not with the plus vat added.

Any help and assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Max

Could you post up what you did sign and the original letter?

    Also who is the company?

The rules state (at 11 (e) ) that you should have recieved information on an example of the 'actual cost in pounds' before you signed any contract.
