  • Old Egg Loan and PPI

    Hello,

after the success with my MBNA PPI ( £1500+) I am now looking into my partners old Egg loan.

Will certainly need some advice here,

The loan was £5000 plus £1083 Protection and THEN interest was added on top.
    The payments were 60 x £132.

Now this was a joint loan with her ex husband who filled in the form BUT put my partners name First ( sneaky bugger ) and then left her and she ended up not being able to afford it and stopped paying.

The late payments and interest got added and added and added on, the lowest point was around £2,000 remaining and when she stopped paying she asked CAB for help and they stepped in. By then she owed over £4k on the loan again due to charges and the like.

She is still paying off the loan with about just under 4k to go as the agreement was £1 a month ( lol )

    Questions are :

As a joint account, will she be able to claim any PPI back just for herself ( her name is first, remember ) and do not know the whereabout the ex is.

if upheld, will she get the money in her pocket, or will they be sneaky and use it to clear up some of the existing debt, The loan was bought out by a debt company, so in reality she owes Egg nothing !!

I do have on my phone an image of the loan with all the figures etc, if anyone needs to see.
Let me know and ill upload it.

    Thanks in Advance

    Quasar .

Egg as I am aware have on-line application forms in most cases whereby you have to tick a box or icon in order to be charged for PPI.

The cases where the box was pre-ticked or enabled have been easy to win for the consumer, but when you or somebody else (not the lender) has actively done this then it becomes more difficult.

Egg - - well my partner was being fobbed off left and right, saying they refused marriage certificate, saying it was a copy ( ermm yes a certified copy from the gov site ) and they could not read details on driving licence.

Well the DL was certified by postmistress and is easily readable.

I told my missus to email the CEO in good old USA, one day later sone guy called Danny bent over backwards and got it all sorted. managed to get back £1200 - but sadly not £2400, as even though she paid ALL the bill when then husband done a runner with the loan, is still a joint app - we aint telling him.

shame there really is no way to grab the other half as she can easily prove she has maintained ALL payments.

        regards Q
