Hi, I hope you can help. I am currently claiming a PPI through the ombudsman as my complaint was rejected by lloyds. My first loan was in 94 and then I had another in 95, this was paid early by another loan I took out. All loans had a PPI claim against them I was aware of them only because I was advised the only reason I could take a loan out was by protecting the payments PPI. However more than a year into my loan I ended up being dismissed from my job so had no choice but claimed on my PPI . I was rejected because instead of claiming job seekers allowance I was claiming income support? The reason being I could not prove I was actively seeking work? This was roughly 1997/98 due to this I ended up in bad debt the banks were not helpful and offered no help to reduce my payments, instead they added interest gave me charges etc. I was a single parent and sold off lots of my personal stuff to help with repayments I manage to keep the payment up for a good few months until I no longer could. To cut a long story short the loan kept getting interest added until I stopped payments. Eventually after years they stopped sending me letters etc. I have now claimed against the PPI on all loans but was rejected by Lloyds. I sent away for my accounts by sending a cheque for £10 to SAR team in lloyds. It did prove each loan had a PPI I sent this information to the ombudsman as well as a copy to lloyds but typical lloyds never received their copy although ombudsman received theirs. I have now left this in the hands of the ombudsman but my question is, do you think that because my loan was not fully paid of and is now statue barred will that have an effect on their decision? If I was to receive anything would they offset this on any outstanding money I owed? Any help would be helpful..x

Re: PPI claim on a loan statue barred
Hi there
How long ago did you send your complaint into the FOS?
If this is the case due to them being old loans etc, the FOS may suggest the underwriters as another avenue of Lloyds.
But again it should be fine.
From my understanding offsetting will be on that actual account, for eg, a loan ppi where there is an owed balance they can use towards that actual account, but you should get back on the others where no outstanding balances apply.
Any interest even on offsetting should come back to you. I believe this have been the case for many.
Hopefully it will go your way, fingers crossed x

Re: PPI claim on a loan statue barred
Thanks Di, the FOS has had my claim since July last year. I don't mind paying the outstanding debt but then I sometimes cannot help think that if the PPI had covered me whilst not working then there was a possibility that I wouldn't have been in that situation. I Managed to pay 2 loans previously so I am hoping that the FOS take this into consideration when reviewing my case. But thank you for the information it has been helpful.
