Santander SAR - GE Capital Bank advice needed...

HI All,

I sent a SAR request to Santander - to see if I could obtain any data relating to a number of GE Capital accounts, which was opened in the 1990's, whilst a full-time student.

After, receiving no acknowledgment from Santander for the request and noticed Royal Mail tracking service was stating, "item progressing through delivery network"...As I had a similar issue with another bank, and after calling them to clarify discovered the letter had actually been delivered...I contacted Santander, as I assumed this was a similar situation, but got no-where...Yesterday packaged delivered to me via special delivery from Santander DSAR team- thought wow that's quick, as I had read on here and other forums, that this Bank can be a little difficult...Included within the data pack was a letter stating that the company I need to contact re: the accounts was New Day Ltd, which I have never heard of?
All GE Capital accounts (store cards), were cleared and closed in approx. 2001...Has anyone else had this issue and are Santander correct, that I need to contact New Day for get my information?

Satan's bank off loaded a number of Credit card brands to Newday, thus it is now the Data Controller.

Different thread this time and on behalf of my wife.

You wouldn't know if this included store cards ? Or should I just get her to send a SAR for everything under her said name ?

Yes some of those originally issued by GE Capital.

NewDay is the hive off successor to Satans Bank. so I'm not sure what data it will hold.
Reg. Office N1C4 AG is ok.
May be worth a SAR to Satans as well Baz.

OK will give it a go.

I just find Satan rather obstructive and un-helpful, unlike some others to mention and noticed that NewDay are responsible for some of my OH's storecards.

Nothing Ventured nothing gained.

Many thanks again.

Well my OH thought she would send another SAR off to Satander and guess what this time they provided some additional card details, even though they confirmed previously that they had no further details and it had been destroyed.

I find this so frustrating as she had already requested everything with an earlier SAR, so they have pocketed another £10 for the privelidge of submitting information that should have been previously provided.

I think a further complaint to Santander is due as well as contacting the ICO for their investigation.

Should they have returned the second payment ?

It just proves that their DSAR

Thank you, Bazza.
I think, knowing Santander's usual behaviour and attitude, it will be useful to make a list of their wrongdoings, like a diary.
It will be helpful when you complain to their CEO and other places , your MP etc. about the way they were handling or rather mishandling your complain.
Every fault on their part makes your case stronger.

It demonstrates that they are not thorough and accurate with their documents, which makes us wonder how can we trust them to investigate fairly our cases?!

I'm waiting for the massive scandl to hit the part of santander . I understnd the parent company has had some difficulties.
