Re: PPI Claim Company invoice for Work not done

I've requested a copy of all the correspondence which I've been told has been posted. I was contacted by a ppi checking company before xmas last year and had forgotten all about it until I got an authorisation form to sign a few months ago. I signed it and sent it off not realising it was the same company just under a different name. A few weeks later I got a letter from Barclaycard advising me I hadn't taken out PPI so my claim was declined which I was fine with as I hadn't been sure I had it. Shortly after this Barclaycard contacted me directly by letter and then phone call to take some details about my employment at the time etc. followed by a letter telling me I had indeed won a claim totalling £908 which I was surprised & delighted to hear.

During all of this I had absolutely no contact from claim4you or any affiliated company and given that their application had resulted in a no win result I didn't give it a thought that they would expect to be paid as they hadn't actually done any work that resulted in a claim being upheld but indeed they are looking for 30% of the payout plus vat.

I have also since discovered, from Barclaycard, that as I am a discharged bankrupt I will most likely have to give the monies to the trustee which wasn't made clear when I told the initial ppi checking dept. of claim4you about my situation. I had told them that I didn't think I could claim because of this and they advised me I could still claim but did not tell me the money would have to go to the trustee.

If the CMC made the original claim that resulted in the claim being upheld then it could be difficult.

I wouldn't take advice from Barclaycard about anything let alone about having to give the money to the trustee if you're a discharged bankrupt. Certainly you might need to if you were undischarged though.

      Is this the CMC? http://please.freeppicheck.me.uk/legals/

Official Receivers in this situation have been known to be reasonable and pay the CMC fees. I'm not saying yours will, but its worth asking.

Yes this is the link they sent me when they responded regarding their complaints process. I had never been given a copy of this as I was dealing with claim4you and couldn't find them online until I saw the link to the above on this forum.
