I must admit I was quite shocked when she opened the letter last night and said that they had up-held her claim ! And to also refund all charges as well was a bonus.
Totally agree with what you said about them and she has sent a letter today thanking barclays (dare I say it lol !) for their professionalism in the way they handled the complaint from start to finish. Like I said in the beginning she didn't know anything about it, what it was for, that she didn't need it etc until I told her to request an SAR and the rest is history.
So to anyone else dealing with them, just speak to them, fill out their questionnaire and be amicable as the OH and I found them like you did, very approachable.
It made a grown woman cry last night as the money will make a lot of people happy this christmas.
As for the rest of them............that's another story but I will persevere, especially with the help of this forum

As I mentioned before, dealing with Barclays was one of my best experiences.
Barclays' attitude made me believe that if you are entitled to refund, you'll get it without difficulties.
Barclays representatives were very helpful.
It was my first company to claim from and they kept chasing me, sending me letters, suggesting that they owe me, and urging me to complain.
I did not have any experience then, none at all, and it was my bank manager in the branch, who completed for me all those questionnaires.
Everything was done so professional and was running so easy, that I thought all the companies are like that. I assumed that all the companies should be just honest. As simple as that.
What a naive person I was then
When I got a refund, which also was much bigger than I expected, I went to the branch to thank my manager for her help.
She has already knew about it.
I discovered most of the branch workers with that manager had a special celebration tea etc., celebrating my successful claim.
They were so glad and supportive. It was very touching. Amazing.
I am aware that not everybody was that lucky with Barclays, but, somehow I hoped that would be the same for your OH.
I am so delighted that it was.
After that dealing with Santander was like being on another planet.
Still, dear Bazza, keep going.
