Hi all, I am only new here and I was hoping that someone might be able to help me.
Briefly, I took out car finance in 2000 with Ford, and was mis-sold PPI by the broker. I was told that if I took the policy my chances of getting approved for finance would be increased, despite the fact that my father was acting as guarantor and agreeing to make up any missed payments. I now realise that taking the PPI made no difference to my finance application.
I contacted both Ford Credit and the dealership and was told that they werent governed by any acts in 2000 and that they beleive that the measures in place to sell such policies, such as key facts etc, would ensure that PPI was not mis-sold.
I have contacted the FOS and they have told me pretty much the same, that they cannot take up my complaint as they were not governed then and pretty much could say what they wanted to say to sell the policy, as there was no one to stop them.
Anyway, I mentioned to them that the policy was underwritten by Norwich Union, who I now believe are Aviva (I still have the original paperwork so this was easy to find out) and they said that perhaps I could write to them as they would have been governed by these acts at this time and it might be a better way to approach it.
Therefore, I would like to write to the underwriter, but am at a loss as to how to word the letter. I am reluctant to blame the underwriter as I know it was not them that sold the policy, but I would like them to take responsibility for allowing their policy to be sold in such a way, but I just dont really know how to say that.
If you have made it to the bottom of this, I'd be so grateful if you could help me out.
Many thanks.
Joeybrooks!
