Hi. Just joined the forum and need some advice. I wrote to Halifax to complain about mis-selling of PPI. They sent a for to complete, which I returned. Next thing I hear that they've closed the case as it was "set up in error". No further explanation. Any advice on next steps. NB While I know I had PPI on my credit card I don't have records of when the card/PPI was taken out. Thanks for any help that can be given.

Re: Halifax closed my PPI claim without explanation
Hi and welcome
Did you send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to their Data dept in order for them to send you all they hold on all accounts held with them?
If you have not done but wish to do so, myself or one of us can post up the template letter, once you have this, you enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque, they have up to 40 calendar days to comply, if you banked with them you just apply the banking account number, this covers for everything you held with them.
I would write back and say your entitled to a detailed explanation, even better write or emai the Chief Executive officer (CEO), if they fail to send any correspondence by 8 weeks or one your not happy with then you can complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Please keep us posted on this, good luck x

Re: Halifax closed my PPI claim without explanation
Hi Goonergal,
This is a new trick from Halifax, I have not heard about that one yet.
I am 100% agree with our wonderful Di. An excellent advice from Di, as always.
To send for SAR and to email to the CEO.
That is exactly what I would do.
Fingers crossed and please keep us posted
Best of luck,
Victoria

Originally posted by Goonergal View PostHi. No written response to either my letter asking for an explanation or the SAR request. However, I got a call from someone investigating my case this morning, so they must have reopened it! Seems I've now given them everything they need to make a decision so am awaiting their letter. Hopefully good news!
