    HELP - PPI not upholding decision ...

    Hi guys

    i was hoping you could help - my ppi claim has just gone through an adjudicator at the ombudsman and i got a reply stating they will not be upholding my complaint as i apparently "made it clear i wanted to take the policy out in my application"

    I dont know what to do now as i dont ever recall taking this policy out! the claim is through barclays - it was an online application in late 2006! i was told by many people i might not remember taking it out (inc a barclays employee) that it was prob a pre ticked box option.

    What do i do now!! ;(

    Hi Carrera,
    What you describe sounds familiar. Di even started a new thread dedicated to our experience with the Ombudsman.
    It is very frustrating.


    Your next steps after adjudicator's rejection could be to take it further to the Ombudsman itself, to challenge adjudicator's decision. I believe the FOS explained to you this option.
    Wonderful Di is a great expert in dealng with the FOS. I'll let her know.


    I would complain to your local MP and would ask him or her to represent your case.
    It might prompt the FOS to reconsider.


    You can still write to the bank CEO, but at they stage I would definitely support your complaint with MP's involvement. It would make it a much stronger case. They, MPs, are expected to help in such matters.


    Finally you can take your case to small claim court.
    Our great L'pool can help and advise you about that.
    It would cost you almost nothing and you have nothing to lose by doing it, however the bank does have something to lose if you win. No risk for you.


    So, you have few options.

      Just found your thread on here. Have you checked what other coverage you had on your account in this period, ie death in service benefit, for example.

        i had CPP which has been refunded and PPI - i never had any confirmation of PPI it was just added on to my first statement 11 days after the application had been set up.

        i dont recall any other benefits! i have been told a lot that it was a pre-ticked box but this sample does not look familiar!

        how can i attach this sample to the thread?

          under the reply box it says "GO ADVANCED" next to the post quick reply. You can then add an attachment and then it should come up on the forum. If you have personal details I would suggest printing the form and then blanking out your details with a pen. Be careful and double check the scan prior to posting to ensure that your details are non readable(I think tippex does the job or a black marker pen )

              none of my details are on there as it is a sample - does not relate to me at all.

              but my claim is not being upheld because of it.

                So for you it does not look like your application form.

                I saw at least 2 threads about pre-ticked boxes.
