Welcome Underwriters pre 2000

Hi There
I have received a PPI rejection letter from Welcome as my loan was taken out in 1998/1999 and they have said to go to the Underwriter.

Now I know that from 2000 it was Aviva (Norwich Union), however when I initially spoke to Welcome on the phone they said that they didn't know who it was before then (how convenient!).

Does anyone know who it was so I can refer my complaint to them.

The PPI was only £200 but when you add up the high interest charged by Welcome and the 8% each year this should mount up. They basically said I need the insurance to get the loan

I hate to see people getting the "run around" , when at the end of the day courtesy costs so little!


The people best placed to tell you the underwriters pre 2000, are "Welcome". You need to write to them and go via the CEO if necessary, ask them to identify the underwriter pre 2000 and, sent you a reply by return. I would also ask them to log a complaint on your behalf in that " one of your staff was unable to assist and gave no indication as to how I could obtain this information".

it doesn't matter if you are only claiming back 50p. Where mis selling is concerned, it is better in your pocket than in theirs. I have gone to court for much less than £200!!!!!!!

Thanks guys, yes I will write to them. They were able to tell me account numbers etc over the phone but were conveniently not able to trace the insurer....I'll get a letter posted to them tomorrow. X

Hi Weesenga.
If you request SAR, that information should be included.
I requested SAR on 3 occasions and they alway included the name and all the details of the insurers-underwriters there.
