    Re: Saffy's PPI thread

I took out a £xxx loan/credit card at your […. Branch] on [date] and also bought a payment protection policy which would cost me an extra £241.48 over the life of the loan. [The name of the salesperson who sold me the policy is ...] The total amount of my premiums plus interest is £ 599.41

Stoopid question coming but these are store card claims should i have show the charges as two separate entities ie £241.48 + 29.9% int = £599.41, i'm just worried that they will now offer me the £241 only.

      Saph
Have you got this bit in your letter

I am requesting a full refund of all my insurance payments, plus interest, which total [£ xxx].
If so, you are telling them here that you want ALL back, charges plus interest

Hi Saffy, I posted what was already on the forum. You just need to amend it to suit you.

Plus definately put Pauls line in.

Thought you did a LBA or was that a prelim? If so, LBA then file a claim in 14 days, if they have not refunded you.

                                Debenhams - His

Got this back today: With a copy of the credit agreement.

I write further to our letter dated 19 Feb 2008.
Having checked your accounts details, I can confirm Account Cover Insurance consisting of price, payment and purchase protection was added on 19 April 1997, when we received your signed credit agreement and opened your account. I have enclosed a copy for your records.
I can advice you that this Account is store card and not a credit card or loan, therefore the Account Cover Insurance would be added monthly whenever there was a balance.
I understand that you believe you are not covered by Account Cover Insurance, as you are self-employed. However, you are covered by the insurance as I can confirm that being self-employed does not exclude you from the main benefits of the cover.
I have considered the points set out in your letter and I have detailed below our response to each of the points that you have raised.
I can confirm that on the agreement you signed it asked you to tick if you required the Account Cover, which you did. Therefore it appears that it was made clear that the policy was optional and that you elected to take out the insurance. Once a customer has decided to take the product, a policy summary and policy document is mailed to the customer for their review. We also offer a 30 day no-quibble guarantee where the product may be cancelled, and any premiums refunded (subject to no claim being made). This allows time to compare the policy to that of any other insurance companies.
In relation to your reference to the sales process in store, there was no requirement upon us to record the sales process and so we have no way of knowing what took place on 19 April 1997. However, if any of the matter that you suggest took place, you would have been able to call at any time in the first 30 days and we would have removed the insurance from your account. I can confirm that the insurance was cancelled on 3 February 2006.
Since you opened your account, this insurance has been clearly shown on your statements, when a balance has been outstanding, and could have been cancelled or a claim made at any time. The insurance was upgraded in 1998 when up to date Terms & Conditions and a summary would have been sent to you.
I can find no evidence of miss selling this insurance, therefore I am unable to refund the premiums applied to your account.
I trust that I have addressed all the concerns that you have raised. If you remain dissatisifed with out response you may refer the complaint to the Finance & Leasing Association at
