  • HSBC claim

    Hi there,

im a newbie to the site and after some advice regarding a ppi offer. Bit of history first.

Have a HSBC credit card which I paid PPI on from 2004 - 2012, without realising.
Cancelled this in 2012 at the same time complained to HSBC who rejected my claim which I then sent to FOS. FOS upheld claim (adjudicator level which went back to HSBC, they refused again and it went to the full ombudsman.

Ombudsman upheld claim again and instructed HSBC to pay.
Have just received an offer from HSBC but I'm not sure how they have come to the figures they've quoted.

i have 2008-2012 statements and PPI premiums alone come to £1000. HSBC have calculated £1400 for the full 8 years, however I would have thought the 4 years for which I don't have statements, they should pay an average. I got the statements from them so am assuming they no longer have 2004-2008.

Any advice on how I should proceed, any spreadsheets I can use?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: HSBC claim

    Hi and welcome

Hopefully someone will be along soon to guide you to the relevant spread sheets.

I do know credit card ppi interest differs to that of a loan ppi, but if the complaint was dealt with by the FOS, they will on request make sure this has been calculated correctly and that nothing is amiss.

Some time back, I had a case with the FOS where they noticed the underpayment, so it was corrected and a further payment arrived in the post.
You are in your right to get this checked by the FOS calculations team and ask them to send you a copy on how it was worked out too. x :tinysmile_twink_t2:
