  • Barclays PPI

I am wondering if anybody has been in a similar situation and can offer any advice.

My partner had 2 credit cards with Barclays (visa/mastercard) which he had until approximately 2001/2 when he changed his bank.

We believed at the time they were taken out (90'S) that both were postal applications, but as my partner couldn't remember taking any PPI, as he believes it was not required due to him receiving full pay if off sick etc, we contacted Barclays who advised that he sent a £1 fee to them regarding each card requesting a copy of the original application.

The first letter arrived along with an unreadable copy that we could just about see the blurred print, the section we believe you would select for insurance was in fact ticked off but looked nothing like anything my partner had already selected while ticking boxes, but, without pressing or arguing the matter any further we have left that one as is. The letter that came with that copy stated he had taking PPI of his own choice, and that although the PPI had been taken out, they would not reimburse him for something when no verbal advice was given!
Regarding the second card however, we received quite an abrupt letter stating they did not have a copy of the application to send on to us due to the age of the application, (strange we thought as both the cards were taken out an ended at approx the same time), and which they have just left at that leaving us unsure as to whether there is anything more we can do at this point in regards to making any claim.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks in advance!
