  • HSBC ppi claim, received a offer. 1st time posting.

Hi all this is my 1st post, so I just want to say 'hi' first of all.

i have sent HSBC a letter asking for them to look into all my old loans and a credit card I held with them to see was there any ppi on them. They sent me a form to send in and I returned it. I have recently had another letter saying there making me an offer and it looks like that's for 2 loans. I don't know if any of them even had ppi but I suppose they did. I have a couple of questions if somoene can answer them please.

how do I know the amount they have offered is correct?

they don't mention what loans it's for, how can I find out about the other 2 loans and credit card?

    Thank you

    Hi and welcome

You are allowed to ask for further details of the loans as its your accounts and your cards.

How long ago approx was it when you settled the credit on each one of them? You could request for copies of the credit agreements by enclosing a £1 cheque or postal order on each account, the credit agreement will confirm if any ppi added or not.
Ask that they provide you with these agreement by 12 days.

Hope this helps and well done on your offers.:tinysmile_twink_t2:

      Thanks again for your reply.

the 1st loan was settled In around 2001 they made an offer on that. I think the loan amount was for £1000.

2nd loan was taken out in about 2003 (end) - 2004. I would of been working 16 hours then after returning to work after having my son and being on sick leave for a while. The loan amount was about £7000 I think.

My credit card was with them from about 1999/2000 ish.

I was dismissed in 2004 when pregnant with my 2nd son, I went to the bank to explain I was going to a tribunal and I had lost my job but I tried to claim the ppi on the loan and the claim was refused.

I was told the best thing to help me manage was to go onto a managed loan and combine my credit card bill and outstanding loan amount together to pay these off.

Because I settled out of court on a payout from work I still couldn't have the ppi to cover my loan repayments and just carried on paying about £300 a month to the managed loan.

Because nothing was explained to me about the managed loan I just presumed I was paying my loans off, after a couple of years I checked the outstanding amount and could of cried when I seen I had paid around £6000 off at the time but only £2000 had actually came off the loan.

i made an appointment with my loa all branch and went in to discuss this, I made my feelings very clear and I felt this was exactly like these high interest door loans. Eventually they agreed to move me back to a personal loan over 4 years, I did want to do it over 3 years because it was the same amount has I was basically paying anyway but they said I couldn't. I wasn't even working at the time which they knew so I doubt that there was any ppi on that but I can't be sure. I repaid £260 a month and if I'm right I finished them payments in May/June 2011.

I think the offer is based on the 1st to loan amounts. Shall I write and ask the to clarify which ones and also can they respond to me and let me know the outcome on the other 2 loans and credit card.

      thanks

        Hi there

Thank you for all this and sorry to hear what you have been through, it does sound like they did take advantage of your vulnerability at that time.

Have you also tried requesting for the copy of the agreement for each of the loans?
They cost £1 each payable by cheque or postal order and have 12 days to provide these to you, this should then give you an idea on what they paid you out on. x
