  • Lioyds ppi claim??

    Hello,
This is my first post in this forum and a very good and informative one at that..
My question is that i had a loan for £5000 a good few years ago and i thought i had paid up in full and forgot all about it :tung:... Then a few days ago i had a letter off lioyds with a statement of payments and a outstanding amount of £440, this made me think could i claim for miss sold PPI which was added to my loan at the time... i now have the account number as all paperwork i had for this and other financial matters i lost in a fire ..

I have sent a letter to their PPI section with the account number a couple of days ago (before i found this site)

Do i stand much chance of getting anywhere with this as i have no paperwork only the account number??

Thanks in advance for any replies i get

    Hi and welcome

As long as you have good reasons then I can't see why not.

May I ask what reasons applied to you and what you told them, if that's okay? :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Thank you for your welcome and reply Di...
The reason I didn't do this earlier was I lost all the paperwork when we moved so I had no account numbers or anything else. I knew I had PPI when I took out the loan!!! Basically I told them that I wanted to claim back PPI on that account and told them that I had list all paperwork. And that I await their reply on this matter.... Pity I didn't find this site before I had written to them...

        Di,
I have had two other loans with Lloyds, would it be worth me doing a SAR...... Only problem i have is that i have no account numbers for the other two loans, but i know that i paid PPI on all loans and none were done on line, all with the bank manager..
Also have had loans and a car loan with Welcome finance, but got no account numbers

          Hi Peter
And yes I would most certainly give it a try.

A suggestion, a SAR will help, but also to say that I had statements hanging around (plus i did sar lloyds) but if also banked with lloyds, and have any old statements hanging around, you should find the loan account numbers on them.

How long ago did you have your loans and settle them?

If you dont want to SAR which will cost you £10, you could do it a cheaper way like request for the copies of the loan agreements, these however will cost £1 for each one agreement.
If you called into your local branch with the banking account number (even if you no longer bank with them) ask them to check the systems for you on all loans taken out with them and the account number for each loan, they must provide these to you if they still hold the details and they should do for at least the last 6 years.

When I SAR'd Lloyds I was fortunatel to receive info going back into the mid 90's.

To SAR Lloyds, if you banked with them, you do not actually need the loan account numbers but just the bank account number as they have to send you all info on all accounts you held with them.

Let me know if you require the Template letter (SAR).:tinysmile_twink_t2:

            Thanks for advise Di

Yes please if you could let me have template letter for SAR thanks.

Had loans 10+ years ago so that could be the stumbling block i suppose!!

I banked with Lloyds for around 10 years, but i now bank with Halifax for the last 10 years or so, so i have no account number all i have is the loan number. So really not a lot to go on by the look of it!!

I shall dig this out for you now and post back with it shortly........:tinysmile_twink_t2:
Remember one SAR per business and not per account lol now that would work out very costly otherwise lol.....:tinysmile_aha_t:.
