  • "Set Off" question ?

Hello everyone, I would be grateful for any assistance / enlightenment on what may be the outcome of a ongoing problem I have with my missold PPI reclaim process at present.
Long story short, I was in an IVA from 2007 until settled with a " full and final " payment when I was made redundant in 2010 with final completion certificate issued.
Towards the end of last year I was persuaded to attempt to reclaim missold PPI on the loans / credit cards associated with this completed IVA, and reassured at the time by the claims company involved that as long as the completion certificate had been issued there would be no possibility of " SET OFF ".
RBS have admitted misselling the associated PPI on several of the credit cards/ loans involved and sent me a settlement figure, which we have agreed on, but now are insisting on " SET OFF " on the original accounts.
My claims company now seem to be at a loss as how to deal with this, and I would be grateful for any advice on how I should proceed with this.
Any useful comment would be gratefully received, thanks.

I have to say that I think the claims company have talked utter billhooks to you. I am sure Di30 will help as I will PM her now. Unfortunately, I believe that they can and do have the right to offset the PPI accounts against the original accounts.

If the company persuaded you to attempt to reclaim PPI and have effectively, misled you then that is something which you should complain about as they are showing their lack of knowledge of PPI.
