  • Halifax Credit Card PPI rejection

    Hi
I am new to all of this and I have joined because I am frustrated with the Halifax who have rejected my Credit card PPI claim
Can any one advise me where I go from here please - I have enclosed a copy of their letter.

    Thanks

Re: Halifax Credit Card PPI rejection

    Hi and welcome to LB

    Sorry about the rejection.
However it appears that you do have the opportunity to contact them again with further information/evidence.
Halifax are well known to send out similar generic letters of rejection, but in your case they said they tried to ring you to ask for further info and they have given a decision on the info they held without giving you an opportunity to have given them the info they required.

I would not though deal with this over the phone and tell them if they had written to you (as this is your preferred method of contact) as you would like to keep all written information in case you want to take if further ie: The financial ombudsman service (FOS).

When you purchased the finance from the internet, can you recall on this?
If so, did you notice if PPI was already applied or not? I am asking this because sometimes the PPI is added and if you do not require it then you can opt out, but this is known that its not made clear to do so and many assume it all part of the package.

Also may I ask if you had any pre medical conditions at the time you purchased the Credit Card?
I am asking this because if you were to make a claim on that particular med reason, its unlikely they would not have paid out, so its worthless to you.
Did you work full time hours when you purchased the CC? If you worked less than 18 or maybe 16 hours at that time, then I understand it would be void and again not pay out as you would have to be working full time hours.
Did your employer pay out for sickness? If so they need to know this as well.

Anything you can add further to send them, ask them to reconsider.
And the fact they say you purchased online, I wonder if the PPI was added after application, for eg, some were contacted afterwards if they did not purchase PPI at the time of application.

It may have been that if you did not agree to PPI the online application did not allow you to go any further.
There are lots of reasons but they must take into account your reasons on why you believe you were mis sold, even if it was an online application.

Stand your ground and also raise the part where they went ahead on making the decision without writing to you, where you would have gladly have written back but will not deal with matters verbally.

In case anything was missed when you first put in a complaint, if you remember anything else, then do apply it to your letter to them and ask them to take it all into consideration.

Good luck, let us know how you get on and if any probs from here.
    Cheers. :tinysmile_twink_t2:
