  • Intelligent Finance/Halifax/RBS PPI Claim

    Hi,
I took out a loan with Intelligent Finance 2006 and ended up with ppi that i didn't want and felt pressured into having, i applied for it online and am sure i removed the ppi which led to a message saying i needed to call them to speak to a representative and they ended up making me feel like if i didn't have the ppi i may not get approved for the loan or the rate may be higher.
I sent the forms off to IF and received them back asking for my insurance policy number (i put my loan agreement number) as they could not find my details so i then sent it off again with the insurance policy number on as well, about a week later i received a letter from Halifax saying they are now investigating my claim and asked that i contacted them and gave a number they could reach me on and a time to do so. As all the information was on the forms i ignored this and this morning i received a call from a withheld number and it was RBS asking if i had a few minutes to discuss my ppi claim as i was at work i didn't have the time to discuss it so they asked what time they could contact me and i replied the evening.

So i have a few questions if someone would be kind enough to answer them.

Is this normal to ask more questions about my claim even though i have given all the information on the FOS PPI Questionnaire forms i sent them?

Should i answer the questions over the phone or ask them to send me them in writing and i will answer them and send them back?

Also i took the loan/ppi out with IF and now have had a letter from Halifax and now a call from RBS is this also normal?

Personally I wont discuss over the phone

Either ask for their questions over phone and say you will respond in writing

Or ask for it in writing

Tell them you want to handle in writing for your own records incase you need to refer to FOS

this was exactly my thinking behind it as i have no proof of anything discussed over the phone

just an update they phoned back this evening and asked if i had time to answer a few questions to which i said i was not happy answering them over the phone as i wanted to keep a record of questions asked and answered in case i have to take it further and asked them to send me them and i would send them back but the man said that he could not do that and would have to base the decision on the information i provided in the FOS PPI Questionnaire forms i sent them and that he would include any further questions in that he then asked several more times if i was sure i didn't want to answer questions over the phone to which i replied no.

thanks for your reply and il keep you updated when i hear more.

          Hi there & welcome.

I agree with that all correspondence in writing is the best way, as you have proof if needed later on, they should know that and I would also state on complaints, "All correspondence in writing only". Hopefully all will go your way, but if not dont worry, we will work on something for you, even if they provide you with a final decision, then you can write to the CEO instead (before the FOS avenue) as many have been successful in going this way too, hopefully your complaint will be resolved at this stage, good luck.

            Re: Intelligent Finance/Halifax/RBS PPI Claim

Was this the halifax that called last night?

My Oh had a call from them a few weeks ago. He declined to speak to them and they did put everything in writing.

He returned their questions and complaint upheld

Just to let you know - halifax are taking things to the wire at the mo and decisions seem to made v close to the 8w time period.

            Hope that helps

well they did not want to send me the questions and said he would have to base the decision on what i filled in on the questionnaire so i will have to see what happens he also said two weeks which would be around 7 weeks close to eight weeks so you are not wrong about getting close to the wire.

the very first call i got from them the guy said he was calling from RBS and asked the security questions then told me it was about my PPI Claim. The second phone call in the evening they said calling from halifax then asked security questions again then said it was about my PPI Claim. So i dont know what is going on i only have the one claim and that was sent to IF. Maybe it is a company handling ppi complaints on behalf of banks i really don't know but i remember him saying RBS as i was thrown at first.

                thanks for the replies

                    Re: Intelligent Finance/Halifax/RBS PPI Claim

I am about to start on Intelligent Finance for a personal loan my hubby taken out in 2003, not a biggie reclaim but he was still sold the cover and told it was a MUST have or no loan, it only went on for a year and hubby settled it, but not only that he also had pre-med conds as well when he was sold it.

Thankfully I have all details of the loan, account number and every repayment made from start to finish.

Well done on your success CJD.
