Santander ppi help please

Sent a complaint to santander re 3 consolidating loans. 1995/6/8

They came back to me to say they couldnt find any details

I had copies of all bank statements which show loan Paid inand direct debits to abbey nat personal loans (no loan ref on the direct debit)

Confirmed with santander that wd be acceptable

Complaint has been rejected today due to lack of info. Apparently they cant contact aviva their underwriter without a loan number.

Any ideas where to go from here??

I did send off a SAR request 10 weeks ago - cheque cashed but not heard a peep from them

Dont feel they are being fair here. Wd appreciate advice on the way forward as Santander being rude and obstructive on the phone

You need to chase them up on the SAR (Data Dept), tell them you will allow a further 7 days, as they have already had ample time, where usually 40 calendar days is the timescale by law on when they should provide your data information. (Write do not ring). Make it clear that you are aware they have already cashed the cheque, and if they fail to provide you with the information, you shall be making a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

Now with Santander, they do seem to automatically reject complaints if they are old accounts.
When did you settle? (Year)?

Many of us have been rejected by Santander, mine was in regards of GE Cap Bank where they deal with these complaints as well, it was an old account, but they did provide the details of the underwriter/Insurer on request.

When you requested a SAR, did you use an account number? (in order for them to track down the account)?

If you any old bank statements lying around somewher (loft) etc, check if the loan account numbers are enclosed on them, because usually the loan account numbers are generally shown next to the name of the lender and amount you paid of the loan by direct debit.

Worth taking a look.
Have you tried as well by calling into your local Santander?

Dont bank with santander and have tried local branch who cant find me on their systems

Will chase up Sar

Cant understand why they need policy number when statements clealy show direct debits.

You definately require the insurer details, some of us have been successful that route instead. (If it comes to this you can have a copy of my letter I done to the insurer) to help you with your own with your reasons added etc.

I also believe that I had enough relevant information in order for them to investigate my complaint (Santander) but as it was old they just automatically refuse by saying that and they will still state they have not enough information to go by! Yes wrong we know, but they must use standard/generic letter of rejection on old time-barred accounts. (Not all banks/businesses are like them in that respect) but these are known for it, and may even mention the FLA to take your complaint to?? (I take it they also said they were not regulated by the FSA) or not? Another reason for them not to take our complaints further.

I note you said about direct debit on the statement, if this is the case then is there an account number shown next to it? If so you can use that in order for them to track down details for the insurer.
