  • PPI Minefield - Advice please

    Hi All,

Like everybody else I've been hounded with calls from various companies in relation to PPI claims. Obviously everybody gets these calls but having had a number of CC, loans and mortgages over the years I thought it might be worth exploring.

The problem I face is that I have no other details other than those contained in my Experian report, so no account numbers just companies that I had CC's or loans with.

i have tried researching the net and various forums but seem to be getting confused but they seem to deal with those who know more details.

Can anyone tell me if my initial action will be writing to the various companies to ascertain if I ever paid PPI and will they be able to supply a "truthful" answer with just my personnel details ?

I do remember being asked about various insurances when taking out credit but have always stated it wasn't needed but I am aware that various companies added it anway.

many thanks in advance for your help

    Hi there ;-)

Yes you can still ask direct about PPI, or you could try sending a letter with an enclosed payment of £1 cheque or postal order to request for a copy of the credit agreement, and to provide you with this by 12 days of your letter.

Another way is a Subject Access Request (SAR), but this costs £10 cheque or postal order and they MUST comply by law of the data protection act (DPA) by 40 calendar days, but if you had loans and credit cards with the same business, one SAR will cover it all with one payment.
If you require the SAR template letter (and wish to so this) please let us know in order for one of us to post this up for you.

If any of the banks/business are local to you - you could try calling in.
So if you banked with any of them, by giving them the bank account number, they should be able to check for you.

Do you know if any of them were with a bank?

A credit report may help some-what too ;-)
