Hi all.
Just a quick update to my quest which has now successfully ended.
Recap : Halifax told me I needed MPPI because of the amount of my mortgage (in my name only as a first time buyer) back in 2004, I wasn't offered the choice to shop elsewhere. Time goes by....PPI Scandal arises.... I decide to have a go at claiming since my situation is clearly mis-sold (from what is listed on Money Saving Expert and FOS, and similar cases). 1st attempt rejected; 2nd attempt (with letter template from Legal Beagles) rejected :-( Before FOSing, I came across this post:-

I wrote (and e-mailed) directly to the the Director of Halifax, supplying all my evidence - template attached. After 16 days, I'd not heard anything, so I dropped them an e-mail. I got a reply saying they'd just started to look into things. Two days later, another e-mail appeared - a decision had been made and a letter would be heading my way.
Two days later, a letter was waiting for me. Gulp. I was dreading opening it, knowing it was another rejection. I opened it. I read it. I read it again, not believing my eyes. My claim had been successful :-D Today, I pay a cheque into my bank for £5178.85 - result :-)
I guess my message is simply, don't lose faith and keep trying. I hope my story encourages readers to be bold and take control, and fight for what is rightfully theirs.
Many thanks to Dizzy Di and all other posts that I've read here and elsewhere on the internet.
Good luck,
Phil
