  • Unsure what to do now MBNA PPI claim

    Hi,

MBNA has upheld my complaint but said i only paid PPI for 5 months then i cancelled it.

I don't ever remember cancelling because i never knew i'd taken it out until recently.

    i sent off a SAR
    got lots of paperwork back
but instead of getting copies of my statements i received a spreadsheet outlining transactions made.

Also i never received the transcript of the apparent call i made them to cancel.

should i be suspicious that they sent me a spreadsheet because i know how easily they can be manipulated to show me only what they want me to see?

Or should i write back and ask for copies of the originals?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as to carry on with my claim or am i wasting my time..

Hi Wassa. I wouldn't want to contradict any advice you may have received from CAG (from whence your post appears to originate !) - but personally, I would say that you should be suspicious. MBNA have never been known to be generous with the truth, and I think it would be well worth insisting on copies of the actual account statements, along with a copy (or transcript) of the telephone conversation you specify.

Howevva - I suspect they will say that telecon recordings are only held for a short period before being erased from your file. Also - if any of the statements you require are older than 6 years - then they may well insist that the data has now been destroyed. Any statements within the 6 year period should still be held on file, and MBNA have a legal obligation to supply you with TRUE copies of them under the DPA. So - personally - I would suggest that you keep on at them, like a dog with a bone !!!

...or a boner. Whatever drives you forward !!! :beagle:
