  • Chatham Finance

Hi all, new to this site but have followed a few links from moneysavingexpert. I recently contacted Chatham finance over a loan of £6,000 I took out with them in 2000, they had added £861.01 insurance premium without my knowledge or consent, long story short, 2 replies off them (standard letters) saying the loan was in 2000 and not covered by the fos so..........go away. I've written back twice with an fsa threat but nothing back from them, so just wondering if there is a next step? Court?
    Thanks in advance

    Re: Chatham Finance

    Hi there and welcome

In these cases where they were not FSA regulated, the FOS will usually suggest you pursue the underwriter/insurer of the policy.

If you do not know who these are, write to the lender and ask them to send you a copy of the policy details booklet, they should send these free in the post by a week maybe 2.

Let us know and we can go from there via the underwriter avenue. It's quite possible they were regulated, being an insurer.
