hi, im new to all this so forgive me if i appear dumb, i recieved a letter from black horse regarding ppi on two loans i had in 2006, the ref numbers of the loans were printed on the letter but not the amount the loans were for and i cant remember what they were for, looking at the letter i took one loan out in the april of 2006 thenn took another loan out in may 2006 so i guess it was for a bigger amount and payed the 1st loan of straight away but i cant be sure, anyway the letter they sent me out of the blue had the complaint questionare with it which ive filled out and sent back, they recieved it back on the 25th march, guess my point is if they wrote to me i never contacted them so it was all news to me does that mean they can already see that i was mis sold the ppis otherwise wouldnt they of waited to see if i contacted them? i did write in the questionare that i was mis sold due to them telling me that i had to have the ppi or i wouldnt be allowed the loan and i already had more than enough insurances in place if things did go wrong but cant remember if they asked this but i have included all of that in the complaint. just wanted to no really as reading through the posts alot of people have had bad experiances with black horse, how long was it before they heard anything did black horse string the whole 8 wks out and what do you think my chances are of success, many thanks rachel

Re: black horse ppi
Hi and welcome.
The FSA suggests banks/businesses to send letters/complaint forms out to customers as a procedure, although not all will do this.
There are many reasons for being mis sold, so even if you did want cover in place at the time it was taken out, did they make sure it suited all your requirements?
For example - a pre existing medical condition, if this applied when you taken out the policy, then they will not have paid out on that particular med condition.
Would your employer had covered you for sickness?
Was you employed at part time hours only, for example, 16 or 18 hours - then it's possible you would not be eligible to make a claim on the policy.
Did they apply the ppi automatically?
The list is endless.......
The fact they told you no loan if you didnt take out ppi, then yes you do have a case, so anything that applies to you it's best to let them know on the complaint form.
Because for eg, if they said no loan if you do not take out ppi and you had a med condition in place at the time it was sold to you, then the policy would have been more or less worthless to you.
Hopefully you will succeed at first instance, but any problems, let us know and we can write further, even if it means they given the final decision, they can sometimes consider still reviewing a complaint, good luck.
They should acknowledge your complaint within a week or 2, and they have up to 8 weeks to send you a final decision.
Fingers crossed, please keep us posted, cheers x ;-)
