Anyone know who the PPI underwriter was for Hamilton Bank Direct in 1995?
Of course, I am aware the Hamilton Direct were part of HFC and now owned by HSBC.

I would be grateful if anyone can shed some light!

HFC Bank Limited originated in USA where it is know as Household Finance Corporation. It specialises in sub-prime lending. In 2003 the bank was bought by HSBC and at about the same time purchased the store account business of the John Lewis Partnership. The bank has also handled store accounts for Dixons, Currys, B&Q, PC World, Furniture Village and offers credit from Beneficial Finance, HFC Bank, GM Card, Marbles and Hamilton Direct Bank.

      Hi,

I had a loan from HDB in '97 - I have the Ts & Cs (Bottom right there is a reference 919060/5.95 [May '95?] with another reference Hdbppltc/12.96).

Anyway at 10(d) from these Ts & Cs - the Insured proposes to Hamilton Life Assurance Company Limited and Hamilton Insurance Company Limited ("the Insurers") for insurance under their usual terms and conditions; under this Agreement.

Re: Hamilton Direct Bank in 1995

Pathetic response from AVIVA; on very cheap paper, I might add.

            "Dear AC

I refer to your letter dated 27th October 2013 requesting data in relation to Payment Protection mis-selling and requesting copies of application forms/loan agreements.

The UK Governing body for Data Protection the Information Commissioner has issued the following guidance around the steps that should be taken when requesting data in relation to PPI mis-selling.

Q: I think I have been mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) - do I need to make a subject access request to my insurance company?

No, if you believe you were mis-sold a PPI policy you should first complain to the Bank or loan provider. If you are not happy with how the complaint has been dealt with after eight weeks you can take your case to the FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN.

Please not that AVIVA and any pre-merged companies never provided loan or credit facilities to the public."

In short, they didn't read the letter and the above is a BOG OFF!

So in short, AVIVA are shirking their responsibilities re: their take over of Norwich Union/Hamilton.

Still waiting for the reply from the Company Secretary of AVIVA.

Yes, what a rubbish and illogical letter...!

As I said we are still waiting for the AVIVA Company Secretary to respond. But if, he/she sends a similar gobbledegook reply, will take it up with the CEO.

Just sent all the papers back to Aviva; just like pass the parcel!

The letter above #6 is ridiculous and illogical...the writer doesn't appear to know the difference between the CCA and the DPA.

                  We didn't make a SAR; it was a s77 CCA request:beagle:

Letter arrived today that purports to be from the CEOs office of AVIVA General Insurance, PO Box 78, Surrey Street, Norwich NR1 3EB; sounds like the old Norwich Union Building?
                          http://www.norwich12.co.uk/surrey-house/
Unfortunately, no answers are contained in same:

"In order that we can gain a better understanding of your concerns, please could you complete the attached FOS Consumer Questionnaire and our Supplementary Questionnaire. These must be returned within the next 14 days." (The letter is dated 07/10/13) therefore they have allowed 3 days taking us to Monday 21/10/13.

Of course, the FOS PPI Questionnaire has already been provided!!!?

Can you just imagine the difficulties encountered when making any insurance claim to firms like this; the firms are too Bog! Freudian slip, I meant Big:beagle:
                          Still going 'round in circles...
