  • barclays ppi help

Hi. Wonder if anybody can help i took out barclay loans in 1997 & 2000 insurance premiums ppi was taken out as per sar info received from barclays they are asking for documentary evidence , please supply any additional details that you would like to share in support of the complaint, ie how it was sold & where it took place.
Thing is I cannot remember exactly can i just ignore the letter?
Barclays have actually settled another one of my claims without me sending any info so dont know why they are so pushy in relation to me filling out forms on the 2 i previously mentioned

    Any guidance appreciated

    Hiya

Have you already sent the complaint form for these complaints? (and they are asking for further info in relation of these accounts)?

First of all, if you don't mind, if you have already made a start on the complaint, what was the reasons you gave them?

      Hi Di,

The 1 complaint that has been upheld and refunded i said nothing nor did i send any forms in. With the latter 2 I have sent back a form now stating that ppi was not explained properly.I also made refrence to the upheld complaint and that no explanation was required for thst so what is the difference.I just dont understand them using double standards and the only reason I see them requiring explanation is because they are looking at worming out of these 2.
      Thanks

Hiya, try not to worry, it looks like they are automatically looking into the complaints, as advised by the FSA some time ago, so hopefully they should be looking into this current one now.
Any loans etc with ppi you taken out with them, they should be reviewing them all.

You should be fine with this, let us know how you get on, good luck.

Thanks Di, they are looking into this because I wrote a letter. The fact that i cannot remember the exact circumstances behind the selling if ppi other than it was not fully explained is this good enough as a reason. They are so pushy it seems in getting info on these 2 but why not the other that has been upheld.

Had replies from barclays. We have looked into the details of your complaint carefully and we will not uphold your complaint, therefore we will not be offering you a refund. Complain to fos within 6 months of the letter.

Had a feeling it was going to go this way

Hiya, even in a final decision they can sometimes consider and change the decision, depending what information you can forward to them, so the stronger your case really the better.
If there are more reasons that you may have missed you could write to let them know and ask them to consider by 14 days, if you hear nothing or if the decision's not changed in your favour then after that complain to the FOS.

Can you remember if you were pressurised into taking out the policy?
Was it discussed with you to ensure it suited you?
Did you have a pre med condition at the time it was sold to you, for example, asthma, back problems etc.......?
Was you pressurised into taking it out?
Was the full cost explained to you?
Did they make it clear that it was optional and you did not have to take out the banks own cover?

If any of the list applies to you I would write back and tell them you have further information to provide, there are also other reasons as well, as the list of mis selling reasons are endless ;-)

                  Re: barclays ppi help

I've now been in contact with ceo but they have Stated that all avenues have been exhausted now and that i must now go to fos if not happy with decision. I beleive fos will take 12-18 months to look into these issues. Is this worth persueing. No real reason has been given to me other than they have investigated and decided not to uphold complaint.
                  These banks make me sick

                    Hi

                    also thanks for pm.

So sorry to hear that they did not overturn your decision.

When you wrote to the CEO, I take it the CEO passed on the details to the complaints team (that is what they generally do) and the complaints team said because it was finalised from the last decision - they are not then prepared to look into it further, as they stated they exhausted all avenues.

Personally, yes I would still complain to the FOS, your chances of success would be possibly higher with them, and not only that, if they find the bank wrongly sold you ppi and as they rejected your complaint, they usually offer further redress for the distress and inconvenience caused.
Sorry the bank did not look into your complaint further.

When complaining to the FOS, complete their complaint form as you will find on the FOS website, and also send them copies of the final letter and any information to support your complaint. ;-)
