It seems to me that GE Money and all the other trading names of General Electric have no intention of paying refunds on PPI. I am trying to understand why they are allowed to continually dismiss claims against them and pass it off as not being their responsibility where others do not - is there some special deal with this company and the banks or government or something. I saw a case on TV recently where a woman had a similar problem with Barclays and it went on for 20 years, but once in the media they suddenly paid up. I have been writing to GE for nearly ten years on this insurance added to the loan and have written to the insurers - every other party except GE state that this is definitely down to GE but they side step every time. The FOS say they cannot take it on either and so they have procrastinated for so long now it is out of time re limitations act. I am trying to get this into the media and will now send it to local MP's too. Any advice welcome. thanks.
do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?

Re: do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?
Hiya
Not sure if GE cap bank are the same as GE Money, but I was successful in writing to the Underwriter.
GE Cap bank is dealt with by Santander, for complaints and data etc now, and Santander rejected my complaint because of the age of the policy. I requested for details of the Underwriter who they confirmed (Genworth). So I wrote to them and within a short time they got back with a decision to refund.
It's all about wording really, because even though the underwriter/insurer were not responsible for the sale, they still have some liabilities.
I will be happy to forward my copy of the letter to you, if you want it to help you with your's.
Please let me know.
Cheers.

Re: do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?
hi - yes please. I have a letter from the insurers that GE said it was and they say: "regardless of what First National (now GE Money) say the sale of your policy is down to them as it was their agents that sold the insurance alongside their loans and their PPI was incorporated within their credit agreements which Bennett Gould had no part of". They gave me the lead insurers as: Jubilee Group Holdings - would this be the right place for the underwriter info? I have been going round in circles for years and GE have all those other trading style names but seem to be the same company ultimately. thanks.

Re: do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?
Hiya
Same as mine, they were First National, then went on to GE Cap bank.
If that is the details of the insurers/underwriters they have given you, I would therefore write to them. I will message you shortly with a copy of my letter you can help with your's if you want to.
As it's mainly about the wording of the complaint, so where they will not actually take responsibility of the sale of the policy, they still have liabilities.
So what I would do is write to the underwriters they have provided to you, and add on the letter that Santander forwarded you their details in order for you to write about your complaint to them............then use my letter to help you if you wish.
Give me a few mins and keep a check on your private messages.
My underwriters were not the same as yours, but my complaint was on a Currys store card, so if yours was another business, for example then B&Q, its possible there will be a different underwriter, despite the company being the same such as GE.
Will pm you in a little bit ;-)

Re: do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?
Hi - I have had an answer now from the underwriters: Jubilee Holdings Group, and they say it is not them either! This is exactly the sort of merry-go-round that the Business Secretary was talking about. They just won't be held to their actions. They suggest I write to Lloyds, so letters will be sent to company number six in the chain.

I would ask Santander again who was it then that insured your policy, you have the right to know, tell them that Jubilee confirmed it was not them.
So are Jubiliee saying that Lloyds were the insurers of your policy?

Re: do GE ever pay the refunds due on PPI?
hi - update on this, both Lloyds and Jubilee and Bennett Gould and Ge all refuse to refund this PPI - been going on for many years - broker who sold it went bust so I will send it now to the compensation scheme and see what happens and if I can trace the broker I will try to get it into court.
