  • Claiming. Back ppi

Hi I had mortgage with abbey national 7 years ago but unfortunately had our house repossessed. I,m sure I had ppi but can't find my paperwork. We had a second mortgage against the property with ge money which didn't get fully settled as house was sold quickly and didn't cover all 2nd mortgage. If I contact Santander who now own abbey national to see if we did have ppi on our mortgage will it inform ge money??

Any advice will be most welcome

Hi can anyone advise me on this matter please. If I proceed with claiming back ppi with Santander who now own abbey national. Will it contact the company that I had a second mortgage on the property with. There was a shortfall with the second mortgage, but I am not in a financial position to repay outstanding amount. Should I get refund on the ppi from abbey I may be able to settle outstanding balance. All advice welcome. Thankyou

        Hiya

I may be wrong but I don't think they would involve any other party in this, only the company that sold you the account with ppi are responsible.
So in my opinion, you should receive the refund direct from Abbey/Santander.

If others here know different, I'm sure they will post on their views on this shortly.

Hope this helps, good luck with this x ;-)

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if Santander now own the company I had the re mortgage with. Do Santander own GE money? If they do now would they get involved. I tried calling Santander to check if I had ppi and gave them my account number and they said they couldn't find it even our old mortgage. What do I do now ?

When I made a complaint via GE Cap bank, it was Santander that dealt with the complaint. I assume GE money is the same as GE Cap bank.

They have taken over all liabilities and would investigate your complaint.

What I also did was send a subject access request (SAR) to the data dept of Santander in order for them to track down the account details.
I would not send the SAR to the complaints dept, they did at first try to say they could not find any info on my account, yet as the data dept is separate to the complaints dept, they did find the relevant details I required.

Would you like to send the letter (SAR) to request for your information? If so i shall post you up a letter template and details where to send the letter. With this request you enclose the one payment of £10 cheque or postal order and they have up to 40 calendar days to comply.
