  • welcome fiance loan ppi underwritten by aviva

Hello everybody, am new here and found your website when i searched on the above and am very impressed with the help given so here goes with mine. I am very new to this so i hope i dont go on too much.
On Aug 8 2012 i contacted welcome as i remembered i had a loan with them in 2001 and was told to contact aviva as they would have been the underwriters {actually norwich union then but taken over by aviva}. Spoke to aviva and lodged a complaint as i did not need insurance cover on the loan my employment provided me with full sickness benefits for 6 months then half for a firther 6 months.
Since then aviva have done nothing but procrastinate.
First they contacted direct group and in september were sent by direct group the policy number and account dertails. aviva then produced a name of a financial consultants who they said were responsible, but refused to make any contact with this company. I n searching the web i found an address and contacted the named person. I actually spoke to him to be told he did not sell or arrange ppi's and his company was dissolved in 2228/2009. He sent me this information in an email which i forwarded to aviva.
Now aviva are saying they are going back to welcome.
I am totally lost i signned the loan papers in a welcome office and the payments were made to them. I had no contact with aviva at the time of purchase and feel they just took the moey.
Aiviva never contact me i have to ring them.
Is this a lost cause or have you any suggestions as to what i should do next
    thank you for reading this

Welcome to "Welcome" - not the easiest to deal with as many claims being handled by FSCS. Many routes to get money back - none of them easy with Welcome.

I am sure others will be along to help - I have begun a claim - FSCS will not help as was sold by a broker, Di on here has had success from the underwriters.

      Hi and welcome.

As it appears that you have been going round in circles with this.

Usually you pursue the ones who sold your finance with ppi, so if Welcome did this and if the sale was taken out from 14th January onwards, you should be able to deal with this through tthe Financial compensation Scheme (FSCS) as pressandgo says above post.

I would rule these out first by contacting the FSCS, more details below....
      http://www.fscs.org.uk/what-we-cover...cial-hn0qripj/

      http://www.fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

But.......as it was 2001, I do not think the FSCS can help, do give them a ring though anyway, if you've not already done this.

But failing that, the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) will normally suggest the underwriter, and yes they will try denying any liability.
The insurer were also probably regulated, via FSA/GISC so the FOS will then be able to take on the complaint if the underwriter rejects your complaint by the final decision.

I have been successful in reclaiming from the underwriters, and it will all be about wording the letter you write to them, as they do have some liabilities.
Let me know if you would like the letter for this, pm me if you want to, I shall be back later or over the weekend.:santa_wink:

Hello just to keep you updated i have today recieved a reply to my version of your letter saying my case is being looked at and my right to go to financial ombudsman.
I do find this letter to be patronising to say the least and certainly Aviva have a high and mighty attitude. What is interesting maybe only to me but Aviva dont call these complaints but enquiries and i think they do this so they can stay outside the 8-10 response time.

                Will keep you posted

                  Hi Christine and thank you.

That is probably procedure, and because the business are regulated by the FSA, they have to say your rights, but must still look into your complaint.
I look forward to hearing the outcome, any probs let us know and we can see what we can do ;-)

A friend of mine is in a similar situation with AVIVA. She's written to AVIVA CEO's office many times but no ressponse whatsover. She then decided to email CEO, no response either.

                      Hiya

If 8 weeks have passed without any confirmation, she can now complain to the FOS, as AVIVA are regulated by the FSA, on the complaint form (FOS) she needs to make it clear that the business she complained to did not respond to her complaint by the 8 weeks they are entitled to.

Re: welcome fiance loan ppi underwritten by aviva

hello, well today i have recieved a final reply. It is a three page letter which starts by telling me I am in a small group of customers who recieved a misprinted insurance document which somehow means aviva accept responsibility. However the other pages tell me it was all my responsibility. Afew weeks ago I found I only paid £168 for it a small amount I know but by this time I had spent so much time energy postage that I was going to see it to the end. They have offered me £144.93. I have emailed asking how they have reached this, so await a reply. Is this about right ?
Can I also add I first made this claim in August 2012. Just to let you know Aviva will not recognise it as a complaint until they or rather you have completed all the investigation it remains an inquirey. Could Aviva be doing this to reamin outside of the 8/10 weeks completion.

                        Thank you

Hi Gill, I think Christine's was sold in 2001 ;-) Although as Aviva were previously owned by Norwich, they were to my knowledge regulated by the FSA too.
Christine, I know you have already contacted them, if they have an email - email them with your account number, and give them say 14 days to respond, copy the email to the CEO.
Did they include any interest? If not then mention about that as well ;-)

                            Good luck.

Hello Di I have emailed them and asked them to help me understand how they have reached this amount. It isnt the full amount of the policy let alone any interest. They have a history of not replying to anything so I may start sending daily emails. I just find this to be unprofessional practise
