  • ppi payout

    Hi
I have recently received a cheque for £2,399.89 from LIFESTYLE MONEY a trading name of ALL DEBT SOLUTIONS LTD. This sounds good except that I have not asked or authorised them to make any claims for me as I am in the process of doing that myself.

I have called them to ask why I have received this and a lady told me I should just cash it as I must have applied.

She agreed to get some one to call me back which they have not.

I have had companies informing me of a loan I had and that I could get money back, and I feel this company may have just progressed without my authorisation, collected the monies and sent me this cheque in the hope I am so glad I say nothing.

I feel that they have hundreds of pounds for this which would have been mine.I have put the cheque in my bank to store in a separate account, one to create a footprint and another to check that it really is genuine. Have you any advice how I should proceed

    Regards

It is most unusual for Lifestyle Money or Lifestyle Claims to refund money when you have not asked for it.

Can yopu contact you PPI company and find out if they made a settlement directly to Lifestyle Money and what was the payment made up as ie how much was refund of PPI and what interest did they pay. Then you can see if Lifestyle deducted their commission from this amount.

Also, have they deducted the amount you originally paid to them and can you confirm what this amount actually was please?

You say you were doing the claim yourself for PPI, but had you signed any paperwork with Lifestyle Money and what date was this?

and what date did you pay Lifestyle Money and the amount please? Did they take the money before you saw the Terms and Conditions?

      Hi Scooby114

May I also ask which organisation (or site) is assisting you to claim by yourself?

There is nothing with the cheque apart from a slip with their details on so I do not know who if any PPI they have obtained. I have now contacted Lifestyle Money and they say they have not made any claim on my behalf, and that it is a mistake. Last year I was going to use them and paid a initial fee but when I realised that this was not necessary I cancelled it and they refunded my money.I did not give them any further details. They have this on record

It is not like Lifestyle to pay money without nagging them.

Another one of our members was expecting a cheque on the 8th October which was never received and now they have gone into administration.

                  Re: ppi payout

Thanks Scooby, we too have PPI a lot of help on this forum together with help on calculating the correct amount of interest to be reclaimed. Turboman and Billk can help you with this if you need help. Sometimes using template letters is not a very good idea as you should change to suit your circumstances.

Thanks with letting me know about the cheque and how they got your details etc. I still don't get why on a closed case they would send a cheque to you, it beggars belief sometimes especially when others have been waiting for a payment.

Before you send them any money back can you make sure that the cheque is well and truely cleared as you dont want them stopping the cheque and cashing your payment, I would not put it past them.
