Barclay card ppi payout

Can anyone help? Barclaycard have paid out PPI refund in full to me even though still have the outstanding debt which was passed onto Lowell Financial, I have Lowell Chasing the debt, whats the best route now to take? Thank you

Hi there

It's possible because your debt has been fully sold on, so Barclays no longer have anything to do with the account any more, and the fact that Lowells Financial have taken over, the refund will automatically come back to you.
It may have been a different case if the account was still with Barclays collections, but Lowells have taken over all liabilities by the seems of it, so it works different to that of a collection agency, such as with the bank.

Hope this makes sense, and maybe someone will know more about this and clarify.
It's up to you as you have received the refund on what you want to use it on, so if you did want to use a little of it towards the debt, that is your choice.

I agree with Di - that seems the most likely scenario. It's your choice really, I think, but - depending on the size of the PPI refund, you might be able to make a 'full and final' settlement offer to Lowells for a reduced amount lump sum to get them off your back.
