First off all, as you probably already know, these scumbags won't have a clue how much money your mother spent on PPI or whether she even had a loan at all.

Such texts are in my few false representation under the fraud act 2006 as its clear they are falsely claiming you are owed x amount purely so they can sign you up pay their fees then sit and wait twiddling your thumbs for months on end and end up not hearing a thing from them again.

They even send them to my dedicated works phone lol, advising that I have £3k.....to come back.

They are NOT privvy to anyones personal information and therefore cannot tell you what you have to come back or who it is from, most of the time they are not even CMC's they are Tele Sales Marketing people sometimes not operating within the UK and do not have to be authorised by the MOJ. Once someone takes the bait their details will be for sure sold on to one of the lovely CMC companies who will then try and get an upfront fee on empty promises. The MOJ at our recent meeting are trying to stop this type of tele sales marketing so lets watch this space.

Answering these text messages leaves you more vunerable because they have hooked you in and is a definate NO NO DO NOT ANSWER THEM as then they will know that you exist. Delete, Delete, Delete....

I've had several of these. The most recent arrived at 16:59 on 9 September 2012, sent from 0790 1069207.

Records indicate you may be entitled to circa £2600 in compensation from the mis-selling of PPI on credit cards or loans. Reply PPI for info or STOP to opt out

I just forwarded it to the Spam department at Orange.

generic calls or txts sent out on the premise of somebody responding....numbers can be easily formulated and distributed via "the cloud"....a virtual telephone system that uses the internet to call as many numbers as it can, freely. Just blank them... the mobile number you see is just a number. it gets diverted via " the cloud " and dials your number on pretty much a chance. it's not hard to work out that all the mobile operators use a core 5 digit start code, ie 07771, 07977, etc. you only have to generate a 6 figure list to follow and presto! the computer auto-dials random numbers in the knowledge it will eventually find an active one.....
Report them to your provider.
The latest numbers will begin with 0333, 033 etc. these are cloud numbers. the +444 etc are off-shore marketing set-ups. ignore them. if it's your bank, it will come up witheld. unless, ofcourse you bank off-shore....

not that its much help but according to google this is an Orange mobile number.

It has been known that certain financial providers pass on info to third party companies, which in turn "sell on" peoples details. I think this also relates to certain "market research " companys as well. If you can get hold of the people generating these txts, then you are well within your rights to request where they got your details from.http://www.intellisms.co.uk/forum/De...x?g=posts&t=37 gives you a list of network provider codes. Your particular number is a vodaphone number. not too sure, but if you phone vodaphone directories they may be able to tell you if the number is listed, or a pay-as-you-go.
A call to OFTEL with a complaint will also tell you if this number has caused problems before. Worth a couple of phone calls...imho...
This does not tell you that the number belongs to the original network, though. It may well have been ported over to another provider. If this is the case, then you will know that the number is owned, or contracted, belonging to somebody, as i don't think you can port pay-as-you-go numbers.

There is an old post called SPAM txts on the forum dated 2008.....well worth a read, if you have'nt done so already.

Tell her to wipe them clean - we have the telephones numbers that you have posted here and beside the MOJ are already looking into 1000's of complaints regarding these text messages and they are working with Ofcom and other outsde sources trying to stamp them out. I think they have an uphill battle TBVH - as fast as one lot go 3 or more pop up. They are actually not CMC's so technically they are not authorised by them and therefore out of their juristiction.

Keep on posting up numbers please everyone in case we are asked for some proof I can provide it.
