  • ppi payout in joint names

    hi new to this site
i would be grateful of any advice please

i received a letter from lloyds tsb in my ex husbands name and mine, it was a final offer for ppi claim , my ex had put the claim in on all joint loans first i knew was when the final offer arrived. he paid remainder of a loan we had but it was in joint names as where all of them. the ppi claims total nearly £19,000 he's been in touch and said although the loans were in joint names he wants me to write to allow him to have ppi claim for loan he finished paying off which is an offer of £12,000 claim payment, he says he will happily split the others so i'll get £3,500 and he's says he has to give the bank approval to send cheque to me in my name as they have been sent to his address with both our names on.

please can someone help advise me
do i have the right to all the money from loans 50/50
if ppi in his name will i be eligable (not sure if joint but loans were),
what do i have to do to claim 50/50 and get names on cheques changed

he's also saying he has cashed the cheques, but they were in both our names can he do this ??

    any advice

      Cheers Turbo.

      Hiya Shaz.

In my opinion if a joint loan in both name where both of you signed it should be equally down the middle on the payout of the PPI refund.

A suggestion here would be to contact the local MP, explain the situation, or maybe the local Citizens Advice who are now used to dealing with these matters and ask where you stand in this case, but as said above, the payout for joint loans where any refunds are concerned should be down the middle.

You could write to the bank, or even make a visit personally and explain, and they should be able to confirm what loans were joint and your rights on this one.

I do hope this helps for now, but I would call into the bank and find out direct first.

Please let us know how you get on, my opinion is that of a joint loan taken out and both signed you are entitled to half of the refund.

      Good luck.
