I had a call on my way home from work last night from 'Lifestyle Money' telling me that I could claim £1000's back from loans, credit cards, my mortgages etc.... I have had quite a few of these in the past few years so I thought nothing to lose so gave him info about various loans, cards I have had. He said he needed the customer services number from my credit card so he called me back later that day & I gave him the phone number, he said for secutiry he needed my card number - he read the first few numbers I just had to fill in - he also asked for the last few digits of the security number on the back of my card but again he read out the first 4 so thought he knew my details already. He told me I had nothing to pay & that Natwest would cover all the costs. It only clicked with me later that night that he had taken all my card details he knew the start & expiry because he asked when I got it & he asked how long the card was for! I can't believe what an idiot I have been. I rang my credit card company straight away today - they have taken 2 lots of £352 & some pence! I can't believe it! Not only did I never give them permssion to take the money they have taken it twice! My credit card company can't do anything they said until it shows on my statements. What can I do!!! I am going to call the PPI company back at 2pm when they open I have emailed them several times to cancel my claim. It says in the T&C's that I have 14 days to cancel. Please help me any advice will be apprecaited! Will I get the money back!? I can't believe I was conned this way!

Hi and welcome
That seems so wrong of them to do that and twice too! Not right!
Crikey, they were quick taking the money.
Contact the Claims Management Regulations (Ministry of justice) MOJ), tell them you want this cancelled immediately, better still try ringing the claims company first and if this fails contact the above as stated and let them know, because you are within your rights right now.

Get on to this now.
If you have been mis sold, this can be done with help (free) and when succeeded you will keep all your refund too.
Please keep us posted, cheers.

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
The immediate thing as you don't actually state its been done is to make sure your credit card is cancelled.
I don't know about the refunds without reading their T&C's, but definitely a con trick. Make sure you cancel and we'll do what we can to help get the money back for you.

Authorised or not, you still have the right to cancel and have your money back.
Who was it you rang, Lifestyle?

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
Yes I rang the number 0844 344 0404 which is Lifestyle - he told me to email to cancel so I have done 10 times just to make sure they get it. Then he said he had to listen back to the calls & someone will get back to me. I don't know what to do to speed this up.

I would cover yourself and contact the other as stated above (Claims management) they may not be able to do a lot right now, but if Lifestyle fail to resolve this, then they MUST step in, but no harm in contacting them just to let them know where you are with this right now.
(And their calls should be recorded too).

contact your card provider and they will send you a form to fill in stopping them getting their money, better than asking the company for a refund as they might get their terminal facility removed, once done this report them to the MoJ and move on with life, the sad part is nothing probably will be done

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
Hi Sandy
Unfortunately today some of these CMC's are ruthless when it comes to getting payments.
Tell the credit card company that your card has been compromised because this company already had your card number and have taken money out without your express permission and therefore you want a new card and the money returned to you which Lifestyle took. They have taken the money without giving you a chance to read and agree to the terms and conditions which is against the terms of their authorisation with the Ministry of Justice. .
What Lifestyle did was wrong they have regulations to follow and it appears from your original post that that they have not dealt with you correctly. They are not allowed to take money from a cold call without giving you time to read the T&C's and agree to them.
From what you are saying and this astounds mes that they already had details of your credit card as they only asked you to confirm the last 4 numbers and the security no- that actually bothers me greatly as no one should keep details of your credit card on their data base and how comes Lifestyle Claims had your credit card details.
Please Sandy let us know how youi go both with your credit card and with Lifestyle.

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
You make a very valid and good point there Tutts. Unfortunately many financial institutions are now unlawfully keeping customers' card details on record. I have found I would estimate around 10 now who have held my own details. Each has been reported to the ICO, and each has had a very strongly worded letter sent to their CEO. Sadly you never get to know the outcome.
I am also concerned that when one phones these places, they take your card details and sometimes they actually say, "Please give me a minute to put them into the computer."
Now after my illness, one of my attempts to get back to work was working in a call centre, and I think I know what is happening. I think they write your details onto a piece of paper, then repeat them back to you, then input them to the computer. Where I worked, at the end of the shift, you simply screwed up the piece of paper and put it in the bin. What happens to all these bits of paper? I don't believe they are all shredded.
So you have an immediate problem with many keeping a record they are not lawfully able to keep, and a secondary issue of whether they are leaving you wide open to identity fraud at a later stage.

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
Labman, the other way to do it is to send an SAR to the data controller of any company who may hold your card details.
I had a run in with Amazon prime this morning upon checking my bank account they had whipped out £49.... I knew nothing about this, it then appears I have been paying this for 4 years lol and they have held my credit card details all that time.
Consequently the £49 was refunded immediately and hoping to get the other 3 years refunded as well.
But Lifestyle is another matter how on earch have they the card details unless they have bought some data in India lol. They should not have anyone's data that they are cold calling.
This will be another point going forward to the MOJ in due course.:beagle:

Re: HELP!!! PPI Con - Lifestyle Money
***UPDATE***
After a morning of calling them - they returned my phone calls & emails. First I got another cold call from them trying to do it all again!! Anyway I had someone from cancelations call me back - he was not a very nice man & was trying to make me still go ahead with the claim - I just kept saying no I just want to be refunded, in the end he accepted it & said it will take up to 30 days to get the refund. I have also called my credit card company back as it shows on my statement now. They told me to post a letter recorded delivery to Lifestyle, then post them proof of this along with Lifestyles T&C's then they can look into it. As well as this I have Swansea trading standards email me back I have to fill in a questionnaire as they are aware of this company. Just this second I have had an email back from MOJ wanting me to call them so about to do that now.
