Welcome PPI Claim 15 months and counting

Hi Everyone..

My first time on here and wondered if anyone has actually taken Welcome Finance to court for their PPI Claim?

My case is listed at court and Welcome's solicitors have just been granted an extension to submit a defense - for the second time.

I have a solicitor representing me as the claim is approx £10k but this whole process is taking so long. I have rejected two offers of below £1k....

Has anyone been successful? or actually gone to trail?

No--not heard of anybody doing PPi on court route--the accepted norm for PPI is via FOS

Hi - this is the explanation i got

"We have today received acknowledgment from Welcomes Solicitors.

They have been granted until 6 April to file their defence"

Which i thought was strange as the 6th April is a bank holiday. My solicitor said that if its not logged by middle of next week we will request a judgement - but they can still request for the claim to be reinstated and get a further extension.....does any of this sound right?

I believe the usual procedure is CPR 15.

Kinda wish they would offer a settlement figure. Will be interesting to see what happens as my loan with them is up to date - never missed a payment. So they can't use it for arrears.

Just out of curiosity, have you previously tried doing this for yourself, before asking a solicitor?

I was approached was CAC.

I don't mind a solicitor doing the work to be honest. It took me so long to actually get welcome to send me all my documents god knows how long it would have taken if i continued on my own.

I topped up my initial loan a few times and they thought by just sending the one agreement i wouldn't say anything.. think it took 5 months to get everything in the end.

They are certainly not the best people to deal with

Fingers crossed for you then.

I take it yours is pre 2005 when you taken it out?

As you will be aware Welcome Finance are in default being dealt with by the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS), so what I was going to say was if you did take out your loan when the business were FSA regulated as from the above date as mentioned - and if you were continuing to have problems with the CAC helping you (and could opt out without charge), maybe the FSCS is another avenue you can try.
These are being dealt with promptly by the FSCS.

Update on my Claim.

Welcome have now filed a defence to my claim and we are completing Allocation Questionaire's.

So we are now at the next stage but have been told another 6 months from this point...can it really take that long?

Hi there

I take it this is now being dealt with by the FSCS?

They have a timescale of 6 months, but with the business already in default, I assume it will not take as long as they stated, just as long as they have all the info they require.
If they do require anything further, they will contact you, but just send them copies only.

Never gone the same direction as yourself here, but hopefully your case will be resolved way before the 6 months, fingers crossed.

No this is still being dealt with by my Solicitor and Welcome's Solicitors.

Not quite sure how they can defend it to be honest.
