  • halifax credit card ppi - my saga

    Hi,
Im currently reclaiming ppi that was mis sold on a halifax credit card that i paid up and closed in 2008. I initally submitted my claim in October 2011, on 6th December 2011 i received a letter from Halifax with an offer of a refund of £1002.82, which i was happy to accept. However, the payment never arrived. I was told a cheque would be sent. i called them week in week out chasing the cheque until February 2012 when i was told a cheque had been issued but had gone to my previous address (which is a bit funny because the offer letter came to my current address?) anyway, they said they'd cancelled that cheque and would re issue a new one to my correct and current address. A month later still no sign of cheque so i called them again. Finally today a cheque did arrive TODAY nearly 4 months later than the initial offer, but for £803.52 not for the £1002.82 as stated on my offer letter?
I've called halifax today but cant seem to get any sense out of anyone and nobody can explain to my why the cheque is for £200 less than the offer but to leave it with them and they'll investigate it.
I've called the financial ombudsman but they said to just take it up with halifax customer complaints dept. so ive written them a letter saying i want the missing £200 plus the interest from 6th december - 26th march that is also missing. im furious that after 4 long months i now have a cheque but for £200 less that i was expecting, what should i do? Cash the cheque or wait until they give me the correct amount? im exhausted fighting them.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi and welcome to Legal Beagles.

    What are they playing at?

Have you tried contacting your local MP to ask to write to them on your behalf.
I understand that many others have had to do this, which have helped.

I would be in good mind to request for further redress for the stress and inconvenience they have caused.

Please keep us posted, hope you receive your money soon, but as said above, maybe your MP will write on your behalf.

(Remember you may have voted for this MP, who should be more than willing to help you back).

Maybe other suggestions will be posted later on as well.

    Fingers crossed.

          Hi

I would say Cash the Cheque

But do not sign anything that says "....in full and final settlement"
